I wanted to bring the question of brightness versus resolution to the forum. They are both important especially with new Hd source material. The fact that most of the projectors are in room with ambient light I was curious if a brighter projector may be better. I am building out my room and I know that I want a fair amount of light in the room. No sunlight as it is a light controlled theatre room and has dark purple carpet and deep purple walls ( very little reflections). So I know that will help the overall picture on the screen. But I do not want to play golf in an overall dark room just to have a nice screen image. I was curious if anyone has done any experiment with a hi lumens projector 3000+? The Optoma GT760 is 720p projector and has 3400 lumens. And then there is the Optoma Eh 415 St which is 3500 lumens and Full HD.

Definitely get something with high lumens! My projector is 3200 lumens and has a great picture with having light still in the room. I don't like to have to golf in the dark.
I have the Optoma GT760A. It's only 720P but is very bright and has a great picture!!! Great projector for great price.
Optoma GT760A Full 3D 720p 3200 Lumen Short Throw DLP Gaming Projector with HDMI (1280x720 res) $498
If I were to buy a different project for still a good price, I would go with:
Optoma W306ST SHORT THROW DLP Full 3D Projector 3500 Lumens WXGA HDMI 15,000:1 (1920x1280 res) $659
Both are great projectors for a great price. The 2nd one above is 1080 instead of 720, so it will have a better resolution.

Funny thing I powered up my theater projector with the Foresight graphics and it looked great on a 120 diagonal 16 x9 . The projector is a 1000 lumen LED DLP projector . Now the gaming screen is going on another wall and that will be a 144 inch diagonal. LED does somehow always seem brighter. Thanks for the selections $659 is awesome.

If you are concerned about resolution, the Optoma W306ST is not an HD projector. It has only 800 vertical lines of resolution, vs 1080 in Full HD. It is also a discontinued model. I have its companion model, the X306ST in my golf sim and am quite happy with it with my ProTee sim. However neither model gives true HD output.

Be careful going by Lumens alone...or at least the Lumens specified by the manufacturer. I bought both the Optoma GT1080 and the Benq HT1085st. The optoma was 2800 lumens vs the Benq 2200 lumens. I hooked them up at the same time and the BenQ was WAY brighter and the Optoma was very washed out.
I tried making adjustments to the Optoma and it never really corrected the picture. The 2200 lumens from the Benq was WAY better and PLENTY on a 13ft wide screen. I returned the optoma.

There is a guy who did a youtube video comparing both, and that's his view as well. Preferred the BenQ. Still tweaking the Foresight and I noticed a problem when doing dual screens ( computer monitor and projection) The lowest resolution of the two is the max resolution. Might be able to go as high as SXGA with the VGA connector.
