Epson Home Cinema 1440 (WUXGA), 4440 lumens

Has anyone played with the Epson Home Cinema 1440 for golf simulation purposes?

The one knock on most short throw units is rather weak brightness. The Epson is apparently a legitimate 4400 lumens, both for white and color (LCD projectors measure lumens more accurately than DLP). Should allow for use basically in semi-daylight conditions. The same cannot be said of my BenQ short throw.

My only concern with the possibility of getting the Epson right now is throw distance--I just see if I can mount it high enough to prevent a shadow from the person hitting. Still, the brightness is impressive.

Based on projector central's calculator it seems like you'd have to mount this really far away from the screen, which like you say, is likely going to result in shadows. Of course that depends on the size of screen and aspect ratio you plan to use.

And... the further away you are, the less effective brightness you get in the image. Better check Projector central's calculation carefully.
