Hi there, I'm fairly new here, but have gotten alot of great ideas from here. I'm in the process of building my simulator. My ceilings are 124" high . I bought an optoma 1080GT projector. My screen is going to be 120"wide by 108" high. My question is would i be better off mounting the projector on the floor and the impact screen higher or impact screen lower and projector on ceiling? I was reading the specs on the projector and looking at calculator on projector central and it looks like i need to have the projector 10-12" below the screen and vice versa. Can anyone give me advice on this? My floor is concrete and im putting down dricor flooring with a carpet pad and indoor/outdoor green carpet on top. Thanks!

Ceiling mount without a doubt. 16" of offset is close to ideal for that projector, I have my Gt1080 mounted closer to 24" above my screen with no issues once keystone corrected. Have you placed the projector on the floor to see where it would be in relation to your stance? The issue with floor mounting, at least for my setup, was that the projector would be where my feet should be and moving back further was a deal breaker.
Good luck,

Thanks for the input. I havent mounted it yet. I have been debating how i wanted to mount it. I think i will take your advice and go for the ceiling. When you consider the offset, would you mount it as close to the ceiling as possible then? i wasnt sure if the offset is measured includes the lense, if that makes sense. i was waiting to mount the impact screen til i figured out if i needed to offset it higher or lower, it makes sense to keep it lower.

I believe the offset should be from the center of the lens. It's fairly large with Optoma so depending upon your ceiling height you may want it close to the ceiling as possible.

Toolman6000 See this thread. I can slide my projector fore and aft and side to side. Since it's in my garage, aesthetics were not a concern.
