Projector placement question

Hi

I am about to order a projector and would appreciate some help. If I remember correctly, most people on this forum place their projector above their target line roughly 10feet high to prevent damage and to make sure they don't have any shadow issues. Is that right?

I have used the Benq calculator and tried typical short throw models to see if it would fit my room dimensions but it seems if I hang it at 10feet / 3000mm it will not cover the bottom of the screen.

Any thoughts? What am I missing here?

There is a sticky post called Projectors 101. Try looking there.

What you are missing are 2 things - 1/ there are things such as "projector mounts" which allow the placement of a projector lower than the ceiling, 2/ projectors can be tilted, they do not have to sit perfectly horizontal.
