Does This Sound Like The Right ST Projector

BenQ MW632ST.................. Screen size is 12' X 10', I'm thinking I'll mount the projector over head right at 10' from the screen and at a little less then 10' high, May lose a little off the height of the screen with this projector since it's a 16:10. Price looks good. Anybody got any suggestions ???

Also, right now I'm hitting into a net with a TV mounted on the side, connection is nothing more then an HDMI cable from the computer. Will this (Or any) projector hook up the same way or is there something else ???

Yes that projector will take the HDMI cable as its input just like the TV. Other than the fact that you may need a slightly longer HDMI cable for the projector depending on mounting placement.

Take a look at this for mounting help ; http://www.projectorcentral.com/BenQ...ulator-pro.htm

But your numbers look good based on that site so i'm sure you already checked it out.

I just installed that projector in my garage sim this week and am so far very happy with it. My screen is 8 x 8 and I project in 4:3. I project down to the floor and have a small white space at the top, but not that big of a deal. My projector is ceiling mounted approximately 8 feet away from the screen, right above my head. The manual zoom is a nice feature to dial in the image size without losing any resolution. I project on a supertex screen and am happy with the picture quality of the projector, although I don't have anything else to compare it to. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

OK, so now I've read a hundred more threads and spent another hour on "Projector Central" and I've created more questions on this projector......... It has a mount of, -3" . With a 10' screen and projector mounted the proper distance away to fill screen projector would have to be ceiling mounted at 10' 3" to NOT use keystone........ Is that correct ? If i use keystone, how much quality will I lose ?? Can I mount the projector with a downward tilt and not use keystone ???

So that -3" if you look is the measurement from the projector lens to the top of your (viewable)screen. Note that the calculator uses screen as the entire image size not actual screen size if that makes sense. So if you enter the width of your screen you should get the proper dimensions. Example; I enter 10' (120") in the width portion and set the ratio to 4:3. That gives me a throw range of 9'5" and a mounting height of 2"(From top of viewable screen which is 75") . That mounting height obviously can be adjusted with tilt and vertical keystoning pretty easily.

Every projector has a vertical offset -- the BenQ in general have some of the lowest. I don't think you can do better than 3 inches. If you are going to mount at 10' (really probably ~ 9' 6" taking into consideration a low profile mount) and want to project to 10' high, you will need to tilt the projector slightly. I don't know your exact design, of course, but if your ceiling is 10', there is always going to be a little bit of a loss at the top (ie no matter how you hang the screen, it probably doesn't go ALL the way to the ceiling - there's going to be at least an inch or 2 gap). Also, as Yrrdead81 points out (and you point out in your original post -- given the aspect ratio, you're going to lose a bit off the top anyway).

I have the same projector but project on a 12 x 8 screen. Projector is 10' from screen. Ceiling high in garage is 119" from concrete. Bottom of screen is a couple of inches off concrete. Distance from center of my projector lense to the ceiling is 18". I use the 16:10 aspect setting and it fills the screen nicely. If you use the same aspect setting you will have about 2 foot of unused screen in height direction when you fill the 12' width.

Does that specific projector upscale to 1920x1080 HD? It is native 1280x720? Was reading up on it, and says it supports 1080 resolution?

Just got mine today, love it !! Did you turn up the brightness ?? I haven't had a lot of time to adjust it yet. I just set it up on the floor to make it easier to find a good mounting location distance. Should be done mounting it tomorrow.
