  • Case for short throw

Has anyone built a case for their short throw projector? Trying to not spend the 270$ for the
    Terra Shield enclosure.
if not anyone use this Terra Shield one? Is it worth it

I just received my Terra Shield enclosure and it works great. Already hit it with multiple golf balls bouncing off the screen. I think it looks good as well. I will tell you though, I ordered it on Dec 26th and they did not ship it until January 13th. They never explained why other than large volume of orders. The vent's on the side are good and allow the heat dissipation well. Seems to be well made.

I am still up in the air on floor or ceiling mount, but with the Terra Shield did you notice and blurring or loss of image quality through the plexiglass? Which projector are you using with it, and distance from screen?

I am seeing no issues with image quality. I have the Optoma GT1080 1080p 3D DLP Gaming Projector. I think it is about 5 1/2 - 6ft from the screen. I have an 8ft high X 10 ft wide screen so I can run 4/3 but for movies I use 16:9 (so some white space at top and bottom of screen but movies look awesome.) Had it for a month and I still laugh at how enjoyable it is to watch a movie on it.

FYI I hit golf balls from about 8 ft away.

I also have the Optoma GT1080 and because my Simulator Room is in fact going to be a Marque Tent (6m x 4m x 3,1m High (at Apex) I need to put the Projector on the floor, so I can pack it up every night when not using it. I was debating buying the Terra Shield, but with the shipping costs to UK, it becomes very expensive for what is effectively a ramp with Vents and a plexiglass screen. I am therefore considering making one from OSB boards, with a removable top, covering in some artificial grass, putting some Computer fans on the sides, to dissipate the heat and a plexiglass or lexan front cover. It would be gr8 if someone with a Terrashield might be able to provide a rough dimensional sketch. Would be happy to then share on the forum my completed replica.
My screen will be Archery netting to begin with, mounted on a 33mm tubular frame, 16:9 at approximately 3.5m wide x 2m high. Biggest issue I have to sufficiently black out the light coming into the Marque (unless I only play at night (lol)).

Someone on here made one from a cable junction box - search eBay for "cable connector aluminum junction box" and you'll see them (blue waterproof metal boxes).
