I would be careful in drawing on experience of others with this buying decision. Not that we're not trustworthy. It's just the usual "your mileage may vary."

My driver speed is mid 90s. Last weekend, I took MEVO+ to the simulator, but only had 7 feet from sensor to ball and 10' of flight. It worked no problem and readings were as expected. I was in short indoor mode, but the settings allowed me to select 7 feet in distance from sensor to ball.

For tech stuff like this, I look at the manuals which are typically written by the engineers who design the product. The manual shows sensor placement in short indoor mode to be exactly 8 feet and minimum eight feet of flight. Normal indoor allows variance of 7'-9' but minimum 13' of flight. FS says there is no issue with accuracy between the two modes, it just sizes the "window" the sensor is expecting the ball to pass through. I believe that window is small in short indoor mode, so they eliminate one variable with precise distance from sensor to ball.

If I were to guess, at 7'+7' you will experience more missed shots, driver (and possibly FW) readings that are just off, and probably wedges that are off due to spin. Also, curvature estimates are likely to be off due to less precision in locating spin axis (unless GungHoGolf is right and the unit is taking in clubface and club path readings for calculating spin axis...

I'll try 7+7 tonight to see if I can help..

Thanks. I have uneekor but I'm interested in this little machine for range and E6 play..

FS recommends the Mevo+ is placed 7' behind ball for sim use (better putt and chip reads), and 8' behind ball for regular indoor mode (with FS Golf app), and min 8' of ball flight for both.

Uneekor versus Mevo+ would be the best test for HLA and Spin Axis cause you can actually see those visually on the uneekor.

It's going to be very important to me as I have it down to inches, even hoping to place the Mevo+ inside a cutout in my back wall. If I do that, and I can have my screen 6" or less from the front wall then I will be left with exactly 15'9" total. With a little play in the hitting area (forward/backward), I was hoping for something like 6'5" to monitor and 8'6"-9' to screen...

Can you please let us know if the accuracy is better when allowing more distance to the screen, and being able to reduce the distance from sensor to ball? (as indicate above), or does the 6'6" distance to the sensor behind the hitting area create a 'too short' distance, is it possible to setup the Mevo+ for 6'6" from sensor to ball?

Lastly, I wonder if anyone has tried the Mevo+ using a thicker/rough mat and how that affects spin?

      Thanks for helping!

Gung ho, what about 8 feet to ball and 10 feet ball to screen. How good would that be? I'm looking to buy it for range play and when the odd lefty comes over.

mthunt 8 ft to ball and 10’ of flight would work great. You’ll need to place it 7’ to ball when playing sim, 8’ to ball when using FS app.

Based on the above sounds like possibly 9 inches from screen to wall. Six inches seems tight. I suspect a good screen backed with a good heavy archery netting behind might do the trick, but again six inches seems low. I must be honest as well as I know they are saying how they can get good readings from 8 feet, I just really feel this is low for radar. More testing would be great to prove me wrong though Also, I agree with the comment that anything less than 7 feet is going to reduce the number of good information that the unit will be able to pick up and would likely result in a lot of no reads.
