  • Mevo+ First impression

    Solid packing and great case.
High end feel in the product.
Easy to get started IF YOU READ THE MANUAL. I didnt and got confused for a couple of minutes
The QR-code reader in the app seems some what bugged.
Super fast to present the shot and also to get ready for the next one. No waiting for a laser to start due to waggling. It is faster compared to ST of course but also the Xi+ as i recall it. Impressive.
Both FS apps works fine out of the box.
Change the auto sleep from 30 sec to max.
Made 10 shots with a proper setup and 10 shots with 1,5m behind the ball and 2 meters to screen and got a read on all of them. Used i9 and it seemed consistent but will check this tomorrow side by side with my ST. Had the same spin i have in ST and i dint use the metallic stickers.

Hit about 70 shots and it read all of them.

THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO is to set up an account on myflightscope.com and use the credentials in both FS apps.

Didnt setup E6 but it seems pretty straightforward.

First impression is very positive to say the least.

Regarding not using the metallic stickers indoors: yes, it works, but with high-spin wedges > 9K spin, you'll see much lower spin numbers without the stickers... at least I do, with 9' of ball flight.

The stickers are so easy to use, and so durable, that I will never NOT use them indoors.

I agree. But I unpacked the device in my kitchen and took it out to my golf house in the back yard where all the gear is.
I live close to the arctic circle and it was -15 Celsius and just couldn’t make myself go back to get them.

What distances did you use In your proper set up? Also how did the values compare to those you got in the short distance set up?

As I wrote it seemed fine based on my subjective recollection on the values I use to have in my St.

8 behind ball and 8 from ball to wall.

Can't wait to get mine! I pre-ordered on 16th feb so I must still wait. I have a room in my house that has 13,5ft depth, 10ft width and 9-10ft ceiling. I also could use it our club's winter practice area. I could provide 50ft of ball flight there. I can't imagine how jealous others will be when I go there with my mevo+!

13’5” is not enough according to flightscope mevo+ setup. Minimum 8’ ball flight with 7-9 behind the tee. You sure it will work okay. If your room is that size won’t it be even smaller when you make room for net/screen? Or is that ball flight of 13’5”?

I have door at the back of the room so I could get the mevo+ back enough. I wouldn't be swinging the driver in that room though - only irons.

Did some initial testing with 7 feet behind and 7 feet to screen and metallic dot. Was spot on with my skytrak.
friend of mine with close to 100mph swingspeed with i9 hit i9, i7 and i5 and it seemed spot on in carry, spin and curvature. It did miss capture a couple of shots though.

updated the firmware to latest version and suddenly it just read 1 out of 10 shots. A little bit concerned to be honest.

well will look into it tomorrow.

Didn't manage to setup E6 on iOS. Tried to follow the included quick start guide but i dont get the options described in the guide.

      It is working fine now.
I have a hunch regarding what the reason was for it not working but I can’t prove it.

Did you ever test out the minimum distance for it to read "correct" . I have about 4.5m from wall to screen to play with. So any recommendations on how to split it up, where to put the mat/tee

This I just a hunch so treat it as that.

What I think i seen so far is that when you move the Mevo closer to the ball:
      Club data becomes unreliable
The Mevo becomes more sensitive to difference in height Mevo/ball. The closer the less difference in height is neccesary.
I have not seen ball data get unreliable with the Mevo as close as 6 feet. Tbh I can’t have it any closer since I will be hitting the wall behind me.

What I also have observed is that ball to screen is more sensitive compared to LM to ball.

At the moment I would be alright with a 6 and 8 feet from LM to ball to wall. Total 14 feet and just for simplay.

I have a session on Sunday and I hope I have data to support my observations after that.

Brutaly thanks for posting all your testing and keeping us up to date with how you are finding the Mevo+. I am surprised it works with such a short ball flight. I will be interested to see how it compares to your ST as far as all the parameters. I just got word my Mevo+ will be a while to get to me.

My impression so far is that the Mevo can have considerably shorter distance LM to ball. Club data will be messed up but distance and shotshape seems to be intact.

Regarding distance to screen I am uncertain. I am starting to think 8 feet is the minimum for reliable reads.

How much net/screen height is needed to stop balls given the 8 feet of ball flight required?

8' of screen height from 8' between screen to ball is 45 deg launch angle - which is quite a high launch angle (I launch 60 deg wedge at 31-32), but you won't want to try any Mickelson-style flop shots from there. Many ams launch their sand and lob wedges close to or over 40 due to early release.

appreciate the response.....think my plan of 10 foot of screen height would be adequate

As soon as I realised that there were 3 different QR codes in the box setting up E3 was not an issue. Feeling embarrassed harassing E3 support using the code I got from the back of the Mevo.

the E3 app is bugged and in my case I couldn’t get the app to accept the correct QR. Went to the E3 portal and logged in and filled out the product key and after that the sim started. I am kind of impressed with E3 for iOS, really nice. I was a bit worried that you could not offset the camera in the iOS version. Turned out that you could and you can also do it for separate ball points for right and left handed players.

The only downsides so far is chipping which behaved some what weird from time to time and that it can miss reading when i hit the ball thin with low vertical launch angles.

Finally got to try out my Mevo+ today. My buddy and I hit about 30 shots at the outdoor range so I haven’t tried it inside. My comments (probably not many surprises given it should perform well outside):

      - it picked up every shot with appropriate shape
      - distances, ball speed and spin all looked reasonable to what I’d expect but we were hitting floater range balls except for the 1 TP5 I decided to donate at the end
      - I hit a couple 20y and 50y shots that all read fine in addition to driver, 3w, 7i and SW
      - alignment was so refreshing compared to fiddling with my SkyTrak
      - battery was still pretty high charge when finished but I didn’t look super close at it

My buddy is now buying one after seeing it in action. I’m super impressed so far but I’m bracing myself for inside to have some trade offs.
