GCQuad vs Mevo+ vs Skytrak

Promising on the backspin reading (although I won’t quite have 10/10 feet) but they didn’t show HLA or spin axis which is probably where I’m most interested. I feel like SkyTrak’s biggest limitation is HLA and Mevo+’s is probably spin axis so getting those figures would have been nice.
I’m not a Youtuber but I often wonder why after going through the effort to set it all up (sounds like they borrowed the Quad at someone else’s place) why you don’t hit (or at least show data for) more than 12 shots. I appreciate you have to show some to quell the skeptics and no one wants to watch 40 shots but for the extra half hour it would take why not do 10 shots with each club and show a few shots but provide all the data.
I’ll have my Mevo+ and be back home in just over a week and can’t wait to compare to the Trackman I take lessons on (granted it’s still indoors but I don’t know of any Quads in the area).

The Driver looks really bad for Mevo+ here, it's way off the quad on ball flight for the last two.
My guess looking at the data it he has probably struck the 1st one well (1.49 smash) low spin. Then hit the second two off the heel, higher spin lower smash. Which would explain the fade spin on gcQ.
Just a guess but this was my worry for mevo.
Would be very interesting to see strike data and HLA , spin axis numbers.
Also looks to me like the skytrak maybe is a little miss aligned, consistently off on HLA

I wonder why they did 10 feet behind and 10 feet ball to screen. The manual says 13 feet ball to screen, 8 feet ball to unit for indoor mode...or 8 feet ball to screen and 8 ball to unit for short indoor mode. Why 10/10?
Gresh12 I agree with you on these YouTube videos. Why do people do these videos and only hit 12 balls. But also, why do they do a video and not set everything up according to instructions? I have seen others do tests without the dots, its not helpful. Everything should be setup according to the operating manuals of the respective unit or its an invalid test.
edit: I do want to add that I appreciate these guys posting videos. it is easy for us from the cheap seats to point out 1 or 2 issues out of all the intricate setup details they need to account for.Last edited by mikestuewe; 02-24-2020, 03:15 PM.

So I'm a bit perplexed. I've been drinking the koolaid for a while now regarding ST being inaccurate with ball speed and what have you, but I recently tested mine side by side with a TM4 and even up to driver (My ball speed isnt great right now) Its toe for toe with TM4. My coach even said he was very impressed with how close the numbers were. That was my experience... I think since then I'm going to stop commenting on whether or not the ST is inaccurate with ball speed now. If Trackman is the gold standard and it can at least hang with it when measuring Ball speed up to 156mph (In my case) then its good enough for me right now. I'd be more woried about GCQuad and Mevo over-exagerating or boosting their numbers.

I'm guilty as hell. But now that I've seen it with my own eyes side by side and have a PGA Pro Teacher who has been using TM since its inception literally tell me, "This is a great tool for ball speed training" I think I will stick with it, and on top of that point out that I was an idiot for just regurgitating information posted here and on WRX.
-
I believe ball speed issues are for >160mph, which this test adds evidence that it is an issue.
-
Plenty of people over 160 have switched to GC2 and seen no difference in ball speeds. It could be machine to machine dependent I guess but I think most people just assume it's wrong and run with it

It's insane to me that anyone making a video with access to a GCQuad, Skytrak, Mevo+ isn't knowledgeable enough to include SPIN AXIS in their test data.
Honestly... wtf?

Reading through the comments on YouTube it looks like they didn’t adjust the Mevo’s tee height in the FS app for their driver shots. They said they just raised the mevo a little. I would guess this could explain the lower launch angles and therefore carry distances with the driver.

None of the information in this thread has me too concerned. The Mevo+ seems to be very consistent in its readings so I'm hopeful they are able to continue to tweak things until they've nailed it down. After the OG Mevo dropped they had frequent updates and seemed to dial it in.
