  • mevo+ interference detection tool

Someone mentioned there is an radar interference check tool provided by flightscope for mevo+. But the link is expired and i couldn’t find it any more. Anyone know where to find it?

I just got my mevo+. Overall I am happy with it. No ball detection problem, chipping and pitching are working great. I also feel the distance is correct. However, when the distance is over 100 yard, it seems mevo+ is hard to get a high ball speed number. I normally can carry 7 iron 140 yard. I only get 120 with mevo+. Maybe i am having the indoor syndrome. I am still playing with all different setups. But when i hit a 7 iron solid(i feel), i got club speed 72 but ball speed only 92. The smash factor is very low. Will try outdoor range tomorrow. Hope i didn’t get a defective unit.

They took down the interference app, if you search back think someone put it on Google drive.

What kind of mat are you using, could be hitting a little behind and that is punishing your distance more than you think.

Might trying hitting off a tee and compare the difference.

One of the members on this forum posted a download link to the interference software. The post topic was discussing interference when plugging in the Mevo directly to an extension cord.

Please search the flightscope forum you will find it.

first, thanks a lot for the suggestions above. i went to range today and found my mevo+ works well outdoor. i can carry my 7 iron 145, and mostly around 135 if not perfect. i went back home and tried different indoor settings and still same, my carry is around 110, sometimes 120. i noticed if i hit perfectly, fs golf app actually couldn’t get the number. it had detection sound, but didn’t give the numbers. it seems only happened to very good shots. it had no problem to get numbers for bad shots.

Interesting you say that. I found that, sometimes, when I hit it flush and get excited to see the numbers, the unit fails to capture the data. I thought I was just imagining that.

I get the same when it seems like I nail one sometimes as well. Meanwhile shit shots get picked up. Go figure.

I made some progress. I am using 10x10x10' EMT pipe cage and archery mat/net. Due to the limitation of my garage, i have some metal racks/holders and a window behind the net. I also setup the ball flight alignment little bit off the center. I re-aligned the ball and tried to hit from the center of the cage, it seems getting better. Now i can get carry 135 with my 7 iron. Maybe still 10 yards short, but much better.

I tried different mode short indoor and indoor and different tee high and mevo to tee distance. I didn't notice big difference with different setups.

Now, i am thinking, should we keep the back of the net as clean as possible? I mean not something with different objects, but something like a plain wall. So the reflection will be more unified? If i couldn't get a plain wall behind, what i can use to build a temporary wall which helps the radar? I am using an archery net now. It has a lot holes. Would it be better with golf impact screen?

I would think you could hang some blackout curtains behind the net to block light that may be affecting the radar?

I don't think stationary metal objects (like steel garage doors) behind the net make a difference. Personally I've been using Mevo+ with a double-steel-wall insulated garage door behind an impact screen and get great reads, and many others on our Mevo+ Users Group on FB have reported similar results.

You probably have ISS or mat interaction (see https://gunghogolf.com/articles/indo...ndrome-skytrak) and your distances will gradually approach normal as you get used to hitting indoors. PM me for more info on interference app.

Agree with Ron. It takes some time to get used to swinging indoors off a mat in a confined space. Give it a few weeks... Additionally, I find I keep looking up at the numbers in anticipation when practicing indoors, leading to poor strikes and less distance. I have to focus differently indoors than outdoors.

        Hi all,

I have been using the Mevo+ for a month now. I at first thought it was the Mevo+ so I did everything I could to minimize interferences the members posted...

When I was hitting shots the Mevo+ was reading all my pitches between 30-80 yds perfectly, shanks and pull hooks shots as well. After that I said to myself if it's reading that it must me and the indoor swing syndrome. I read Ron at gunghogolf indoor swing syndrome article and its true.

Since using this device when I hit a pure shot my carry distances were what I expected. I said to myself how many times do you actually hit a pure shot.

This weekend I was hitting my 8 iron and near the end of my session I was hitting the carry distances I would expect on the course. I think I am getting over this indoor swing syndrome.

i use FS golf or FS skills App mostly but when I get over this swing syndrome I will use e6 a little more.

To ensure that you are hitting pure shots get some impact tape or foot spray that is the only way to prove that you are hitting the center of the club face

For me I came to the conclusion it was me and not the device.

Yep, that's one of the big eye-openers for new launch monitor users - their AVERAGE carry distance. Miss the sweet spot by half an inch and lose 15-20 yards with a mid-iron. Many of us tend to only remember our best shots / carry distances in real life play, and come into sim use with that skewed memory/knowledge of our carry distances. Add to that the factor of subconsciously not swinging as fast indoors, and mat interaction, and it can be quite a difference early on.

Yup.. learning your actual carry distance average is huge. Humbling, but one of the best things to improve your game is knowing how far your average carry of all shots is, not your average of your best shots.

thanks everyone again for sharing your experience. I have to admit yeah it is me having the indoor syndrome. I grabbed 5 iron, i can carry above 150. It proofed the radar can detect the ball speed more than 100. It is just me. I am setup up TV and project now. I am so happy it works so good. thanks again.

I made similar experiences with my setup... strange thing is, in FS-Golf i got tons of non-reads when i start "ripping" my shots. I'm not a super fast swinger - aprox. 90-92 mph with 7-Iron. When i swing a calm PW the non-reads coming much more rarely. When i switch over to FS-Skills or to e6 i experience almost no non-reads at all?!?! What could be the issue? I'm running the latest firmware... operating in short indoor mode with 8 feet mevo to ball and 10 feet ball to screen

Thadoc - I had similar issues and FS replaced my unit. No Longer experiencing non-reads for any iron/driver shots. I had upgraded to v.16 with new unit which caused issues with putting and chipping so called FS Support and they reverted me back to v.12 until v.17 comes out this week they said for the PGA show.
Impressed with FS Support, John / Keaton are great, give FS a call.

Not sure right now - think its a bit better since the last update of FS Golf. I didn't have a chance to try my mevo+ outdoors without any possible issues caused by interferences due to the current lockdown situation here in germany. I think i have to try that first before checking back wit FS.

aformagie have you heard any updates on release date of v.17? I’m now seeing in some threads it is due our end of Feb.

I read here or one one of the facebook groups, someone talked recently with FS Support, and they mentioned .17 will be out end of February.. so yeah, sounds like it has been pushed out a few times. I'm sure it's not easy creating FW to work with different hardware.. so hoping they are just doing their due dilligence to ensure it works with all units before release so it doesn't fix some and break others.

          • #11
Well I called FS Support asking the "when" question. Keaton and I are connecting Monday Feb 8th to upgrade the "Beta" v.17. Will advise how that goes.

Based on my own experimentations, it's a good sign.. Hitting a ball should cause a spike which is expected..
If you see lots of spikes or a high average noise floor value then it's not as good.
I believe my flat line was green though but It's been a while..
Unless you have real issues I wouldn't worry too much though. There's a reason they removed it...
If you have issues they'll have you do an advanced sampling in the FSGolf app.

If I remember correctly when there was no interference the line was Green, moderate Orange and lots red. If you take a shot or even wave you hand in front of the Mevo you should see spike. Was the mevo plugged into an outlet during the test? Dirty power can make a difference.

When I ran the test before they took the webpage down, my enviornment was green, when moved something infront of it, it spiked. When took to kitchen and pointed at the fridge, it rescaled and changed colors to red.

Might be worth a call to FS Support. Are you having problems?
