  • GC2 refurb program

The price point many of us have been quoted is fairly reasonable (~5200) vs the bay units if it avoids transfer fee and carries some warranty from foresight.

Is the catch that they are going to take out the Bluetooth or alter it so the unit will only work with FSX and create issues to use it for TGC?

Yes, aeroburner has stated that that is what he was told. I guess we'll have to wait and see for sure when someone buys one. But that seems like a good plan from their standpoint of trying to push their proprietary sim software...to now allow 3rd party access.

On a further note, it makes my Serial # 1200+/- GC2 with 3rd party access much more attractive should I choose to sell it at some point.

Yes it is interesting in that respect. Refurb program will actually increase or maintain price of current 2nd hand GC2s.

          Isn't a new gc2 available for 6k ? It's not much of a discount on a used product

What if you had to send your unit in for repairs? Could they then alter the bt in some way so it would'nt work with 3rd party software? (on the fence for TGC)

My used unit (aeroburner purchase) had to go in for a Bluetooth repair, and I received it back just over two weeks ago. They did not mess with Bluetooth, and it is working fine with that other (NOT TGC....yet) sim software. Not sure they would mess with units just in for repair, but who knows.

All I can say is bluetooth is still listed as a feature on the GC2 website. I personally don't see bluetooth going away on the GC2. I suspect sales guys at foresight are trying to spread this rumor to boost the dismal FSX sales. They are trying to take the Apple approach to the hardware/software integration which is a mistake in this industry. Look at Trugolf, they'll integrate E6 with anything that wants to and they sell a ton of it. And guess what, they have their own simulator hardware.

I have FSX and I connect via bluetooth and I want it that way. I don't want a cable running across my room. If I sent it in and they removed that feature I would be pissed and throw a fit. Foresight will go out of their way to make you a happy customer so no I don't see that happening. I suppose they could swap the bluetooth for wifi but I just don't see that happening. Not only would that be a support nightmare they would have develop a card that could seamlessly be swapped with the bluetooth card.

I'm not saying the potential isn't there to block it. It's been there for years and they have yet to do so. Their problem is they have customers out there using a solution that will only work the way it is.

Yes but encrypting the Bluetooth would only ruin 3rd party apps not their FSX.

They did not mess with Bluetooth, and it is working fine with JNPG sim software (don't have TGC yet). Not sure they would mess with units just in for repair, but who knows. Also, with how often IOS systems are updated for the apps, it would certainly interfere with the ability to properly use the IOS app pending constant updates from Foresight.

it seems to me if they would just make their FSX software into great sim software they would sell more and more LMs...``build it and they will come.``

I agree. Tested FSX for a week. Now back to FR1, for my needs the FR1 is so much better.

One feature that is helpful with FSX is the ability to use external camera for swing analysis.

Does anyone know if they will start encrypting the Bluetooth on NEW GC2s in addition to the refurbished ones?

Nobody KNOWS. This is just speculation and rumor. I'm afraid we won't know until folks start buying them. To date this has not been an issue and there have been quite a few refurbished units sold. Do you think they will start changing the refurbish process to encrypt bluetooth? I don't think so but I can't guarantee it.

ok during the whole WTH foresight was doing information was given then taken back. I had a couple guys asking me for a GC2 and i am out completely so I talked to foresight on the refurb program which was there 2017 game plan I talked about a long time ago about and golfsmith was going to ruin that surprise roll out which kind of tainted owners with the 500 registration fee and them trying to bankrupt me with repairs fees (which they were very fair with me about). I got to the skinny of this as i was not going to go back and refer them to buy this unless it would work for sim play, So here is what i did find out from them

                    1. units will completely refrub to brand new condition
                    2. new super flash installed
                    3. bluetooth will work with 3rd party
                    4. 6 month warranty
                    5. NO mandatory software will be required to buy GC2
                    6. registration of ownership

the price is set at 5250 they are 4 weeks to deliver unit and there is a waiting list for these units, they are wanting 1000.00 deposit for unit to be put on the waiting list, I passed this information on to two forum members and they have moved forward on the purchase of the units, Talk with Ryan W on this and make sure you mention my name on this, Ryan is a great guy and has helped me a bunch with taking all my money.

Great information! This should finally put to rest all the speculation around Bluetooth.

Wondering if anyone has received one of these units yet. I could imagine the GCQuad's are flying off the shelf and a bunch of GC2's coming in.
                      The queue length?
