  • FSX 2018 and Essential Putting Analysis

Anyone get either of these yet? My golf spy said Monday on putting which I think is part of the rebranded FSX 2018: https://mygolfspy.com/foresight-esse...ting-analysis/

My FS rep told me shortly after the Pga show that it would be a few months before fsx18 was expected to be released. He thought it would be an approx $500 upgrade for existing users and the main difference would be “graphics” he thought. Outside of that he had no info so I’m looking forward to hearing any insights anyone else has.

I heard from a good source that FSX 2018 will be released this week! I know nothing about the putting analysis.

Ha ha... it seems everyone at Foresight is giving out different information.
The guy from FS technical support that I speak to frequently told me it’d be a no cost change, and essentially was just a rebrand. No difference at all other than some clients could have the interface / fonts changed to suit there business.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
I’d love for the graphics to be upgraded... but surely that would be from upgrading the courses rather than the application?

Marketing email just went out on the putting. It says "Current FSX owners who purchase Essential Putting Analysis will also receive the new FSX 2018 software upgrade"

yep - sounds like foresight is gonna charge us all a boatload of cash to give us an "update" which is highway robbery. they "gave" us a few courses which are mainly so glitchy they are unplayable even - how about fix the problems before you charge us so damn much - its been a year for the software that costs nearly 3000$ and now they want us to pay an upgrade fee....frustrating

Glad I am on a golf hiatus! This kind of stuff irritates me. They want to get more people into golf, but charge amounts that are so greedy! BTW, FSX has technically been out since 2014 as I pre-ordered it when announced because I had the old FR1. To people who say it has come a long way, it has, but we are looking at 4 plus years of work here. An updated graphics engine might get it to Playstation 3 level when all the other software companies are working towards the next gen console type graphics. The Pebble courses look nicer, but they can keep those at $1K on sale. It's the same engine, just probably processing smoother.
That being said they are incredible with Launch Monitors and technology. Business..............not so much

I agree a total ripoff ! Fsx upgrade should not cost anything especially after we already paid 3k for fsx in the 1st place
even the putting module should be no cost for the qcquad owners who already spent 18 k ( not intended to offend the gc2 owners) its total ripoff

$500 upgrade cost for existing users... and FSX V3.5.11 will not be supported any longer. There will be no new courses or updates available unless you upgrade.
Kinda got you by the balls - unless you want to jump to E6 or something.

Forsight sucks. $500 upgrade after spending 18K last year for a quad that had lots of bugs initially and bascally a beta software in FSX 3. Unreal. Total money grab to f... the customers....

I find it interesting that the putting analysis isn’t available for GC2/HMT owners. I’m sure the response would be that the Quad has upgraded flashes/cameras. But even full putter head data should be possible considering the one dot format provides limited putter info, as it stands now, with my HMT. Don’t get me wrong... ball analysis would be incredible—not that I would want to pay-$2,500 for it. Definitely sucks about the $500 upgrade. Here we go with the recurring fee business model.

It's important we let Foresight know how we feel about this BS software update fee. Really, what am I getting for $500? A decent interface you copied from TruGolf? Really? Send support@foresightsports.com an email about this. Their execs get these, I've had them respond directly. I was worried when I saw the FSX2018 designation. That just tells me the annual $500 fee is coming. As for not supporting the older versions I don't see how they can do that. People have recently purchased FSX for $3K. If it is unsupported months later that would leave them open to a lawsuit IMO.

One thing to keep in mind is the information coming out of Foresight has been sooooo inconsistent. This one sounds like it's probably true and honestly it's right up their alley. To pay an addition $500 for the software I would need to see some drastic improvements. What are "revamped" graphics exactly? The other improvement, putting analysis, that I'm not willing to pay $2500 for. So, I have to pay $500 to get support on your new version that has a feature I can't use because I didn't unlock it. Uh, what?

Foresight customer service is the reason why I decided to buy my GC2 & HMT second hand, I just felt like they would try to nickle and dime me at every chance they get. FSX2018 is one example and then the $2500 putter upgrade fee is another. If I had just bought the Quad and wasn't given this upgrade I would raise hell. Unfortunately I don't think Foresight cares about their customer service reputation, maybe if you're a tour pro or another major golf industry professional.

I was told when FSX released, any upgrades would be free as long as you purchased the software or courses. Guess they blatantly lied to me. What percentage of people who own FSX are going to use the putting analysis, 1%? The person who cares that much about putting analysis probably doesn't care about an updated FSX engine. I would like this company to appear on a future episode of AMERICAN GREED.

                              Here is what you get:

FSX 2018 is a $500.00 upgrade if you currently have FSX and it offers the following improvements:
                              All-new engine featuring deferred lighting
All-new trees for the highest level of realism (March 2018)
Dual monitor support - now control what data is displayed on each screen (March 2018)
                              2 camera support
                              Draw/edit to video
                              Click-to-zoom data in reports
                              All-new UI (March 2018)
New roll model to set green speed
New green + green fringe sliders to set bounce
                              Many more new features!

Does this mean that they admit FSX was a mistake for the past 3 years?

There are quite a few improvements there that I would say justify a $500 upgrade. However, if you have purchased something in the last 6 months or so you should get this for free. I don't care if it's FSX, Courses, Quad, whatever.

                                I won't say anything about the last 3 years...LOL

I'll probably call my rep at some point and see if he can throw in a couple of courses to justify the $500.00 upgrade. It would be interesting to see how some of the courses I liked are improved with the new lighting and graphics engine. I was going to hold off till the Quad down the road, but we shall see.
                            Working...
