  • GCQuad with TGC up and running

I listed the steps I took to get this thing going. I just got done playing a round at a famous course down South where a big tourney was supposed to be held this weekend.

Step 1: Buy this: https://golfsimulatorstore.com/colle...13246583636067 - this part is a pain because you need to install protee and TGC and wait for all your licenses to come via email.

Step 2: Configure protee as instructed in other posts. Basically - you need to just change 1 setting to configure it to external data

Step 3: Install GQSX.com - pm me if you need this

Step 4: Connect the Quad to the computer via wifi

Step 5: Connect to internet either via ethernet cable or another wifi card and bridge connections - this allows to connect to internet and qcquad at the same time

Step 6: Launch Protee then GQSX (click on connect) then start TGC

It should now work. No needing all that other stuff like you do for the GC2.

This has me completely second guessing. With this, any reason I shouldn't upgrade to the GCQuad? Any input is appreciated.
I don't have either of them, but from what I have read on this forum the GCQ now requires you to have FSX2020 for the TGC2019 integration to work. Whereas the GC2 does not. So you'll need to allow for that cost in your decision.

    • If I’m coming from a skytrak regular TGC not 19 what do I need to do to get it to work with my quad?

      • I followed all the steps and I cannot get TGC 19 to recognize the shots on my new quad. I open protee first, I have external data on, I open gqsx and it connects all green, I open Fsx 20 and minimize it, then open TGC 19. Nothing works!
        please help guys!

Are you using two wireless connections for your computer?

Not sure if everyone does this but this works for me every time.

when you startup FSX, I go to devices and “connect” the quad.

also, I do all this on a fresh windows boot.

one thing I’m trying to figure out at the moment is once I’m done playing TGC and say I want to use FSX, FSX doesn’t register any shots. There must be something still running in the background preventing this even those I exit out of protee interface, gsx interface and TGC.

          • This is a long thread, so forgive me if this has been answered many times. Just wanted to confirm...

I just bought a Quad, should arrive next week. I was a skytrak owner with a TGC2019 license purchased through Skygolf. Since the Quad is purchased new, I will have FSX2020. Just wanted to make sure that all I have to do is contact Protee to pay for a transfer from Skytrak to the Quad and then download the GQSX app to get everything to work.

Secondly, I have a gaming laptop (Dell G7) and do not have two wireless connections, at least I don't think I do. I was planning on having the Quad connect to my home wifi network. My laptop would then be connected to the same wifi network. Based on what I read above, this setup will not work for TGC2019. Is that correct? Would I just need to buy a USB wifi dongle to create the second wifi network for the Quad to connect to the laptop? (Will this be needed for FSX2020 as well?)

            Thanks.

Why wouldn't you just connect the laptop to the home wifi and connect the laptop to the Quad via USB? The USB connection is rock solid ......

Sounds good. I can do the USB connection. Thanks.

I think there is some confusion here. The way I understand it- for TGC to work your GCQ must be connected to your laptop via WiFi. You can't use USB because the interface software hijacks the wifi connection. You can use a USB WiFi adapter to get a second WiFi connection, however.

          • Going to take the plunge here, probably today. Any new issues or still “all good?” Also, someone want to link GQSX to me?

            Thanks!

I just set up a new computer with FSX and TGC and was able to get TGC to work. With FSX open I needed to make sure it was connected to the Quad via wifi in settings (just having it open but not connected did not work). GQSX is linked on page 1 or 2 of this thread.

              • Alright, before buying TGC2019 I decided to make sure I could get TGC up and running (I already own it.) I got Protee to send me new licenses for the interface and for TGC on this machine, but no luck. I have FSX running in the background, and it is registering shots. I opened up Protee first (it's been configured to use external data and then exited,) then opened up GQSX. When I connect GQSX, "protee program" turns green, "gcq online" turns yellow, and "direct wifi conn" shows green. I can launch TGC, but it doesn't register my shot. I tried firing up the range on FSX, which does register shots in the background. I've tried GQSX with "club" checked and not, and nothing seems to work. Ideas?

You may be missing one key recipe in this. After you start FSX2020, make sure under Devices (under settings), you are actually connected to GCQuad. I have to manually refresh and then click 'connect' even though i have it set to automatically reconnect. Once you've done this, you can close out FSX. Others say it needs to stay in the background but I don't have to do this. Mine just works as long as I hook up FSX first.

                  Order for me is:
                  1. Start Protee
                  2. start GCSX and then connect. All should be green
                  3. Launch FSX and then go under Devices to connect to the GCQuad. You may have to refresh multiple times. Once you can 'connect', then close out FSX
3a (optional). Hit a shot on the GCQuad and see if the Protee interface is seeing data comes in. If it does, TGC will be fine.
                  4. Start TGC2019 as normal and go.

                  gluck!

                      • Now for the next challenge/setting- putt reading seems inconsistent. My Q picks up the putt, but TGC does not. Is that a Protee setting I should adjust? And I seem to recall something about a putting forgiveness setting that I am supposed to adjust also?

Same with me. Make sure your shoes don’t have any white. It throws off the Quad.

Think of it like getting extra putting practice. And yes, it's annoying when you're trying to hit 2 foot putts and have 5 goes at it. I haven't nailed down why this is happening. johnnybogey you may be right as I have *some* white on my shoes but it's predominantly black. It's a hit or miss issue with TGC since Quad is picking up the putt.
