  • GC2 questions before purchase

I'm getting really close to pulling the trigger on a CPO GC2 with FSX2020. To me it looks like you don't get any courses at all with the software just the range? The 3k for FSX is annoying enough but I do want a good driving range as I intend to use it as much as a game improvement tool as a simulation tool. Checking out their website some courses are $150 and they wnat $500 just for pebble beach. How do these play for anyone who has them?

I want to play TGC2019 as I understand you can do that. How is the gameplay though? Is the interface pretty straightforward. What do most of you foresight owners use as far as sim software and what are your opinions. Any reason to avoid the GC2? The quad is cool but I can't really afford that and I don't see how I would justify the price considering it's harder to even play TGC on. What other sim software should I be thinking.

I'm sleeping on it, I have a skytrak on order maybe I just wait for that while I decide.

GC2 and TGC is pretty easy. GC2 is a step up from SkyTrak. I had SkyTrak first and haven’t looked back.

      Your FSX2020 licence gives you...
You get 5 free courses 1 gets installed and you download 4.
You also get foresight fairgrounds which are fun mini games, mainly for skills and getting kids involved
You get FSX pro which is windows and iPad based, it’s excellent for performance tracking and fitting.
You get fsx mobile and FSX performance if you want anything on your phone
Courses are usually offered at $60 throughout the year,
The new Unity graphics engine is being introduced this year to overall fsx2020 visually

      hope that helps.

yeah at least I get a few up front courses and also the graphics update is something I didn't know about. I'll look into that. Thanks.

Fsx comes with 5 courses standard..also you get fsx pro. There’s other options other than tgc, do some research on beta software. Also if the quad is even a possibility, go with that..the gc2 will likely be phased out...

quad isn't possible unless I wait for a few a year and save up the money. Which I might do. You say phased out I've seen guys on youtube running 8 year old gc2's no problem other than replacing the flash drives. So I'm not really sure what you mean by phased out? I guess I could just use the skytrak for the next year and maybe save for the quad if it's that much of an upgrade. To me it didn't seem like it did much else that I would use to justify that extra money.

It’s just my opinion but the way the quad is selling and marketing on the pga tour, I don’t think they will continue production of any new gc2’s for much longer..

I may have an FSX2020 license key for sale in the next few days if you’re interested? I’m awaiting the arrival of my GC2 that comes with the software but I already have FSX 2020 software that I purchased elsewhere in advance.

When did you order your GC2? Curious how delayed they are in shipping. I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks.

Will you be getting GC2 with HMT? Are your goals to improve your golf game or is it to enjoy playing sim golf?

My two cents...cancel the Skytrak. I had one and although the accuracy was decent, the spin decay algorithm/issue exaggerated my draw (into hooks) in the software. You'll not really be able to take it out to the range due to flying debris. You have a silly little dot that you have to keep the ball on and make sure the logo of the ball is pointed in the right direction to not get misreads/no-reads. You have a risk of the curtain going bad and having to be replaced. You'll need to get the metal case if you are worried about errant shots. Oh and you still have to pay the yearly Game Improvement Plan fee if you want to play TGC2019.

Not getting hmt I think I can figure out what I need by watching the ball flight. I’m a decent golfer, raced motorcycles a lot and now that I’m done racing seriously I want to get as good at golf as possible. My previous best handicap was around a 10. Im more focused on improving my game than sim golf but I know I’ll play a lot of sim golf especially in the winter months here in the PNW.

sleeping on it cost me the used model from foresight lol now they are sold and they removed them from their website. Still gotta get the last bit of funds but im pretty sure I’m gonna get a new GC2. I’ll wait to buy the software for a little bit.

Good choice on sticking with GC2. It's a far superior device and if you can get a used FSX license, go that route.

What I've read and researched and even when talking to Foresight the GC2 and Quad are extremely similar with ball flight. To me that's what's really important as I can feel in my swing what I'm doing wrong. I would contact foresight personally. When I did they gave me $500 off a new GC2, $500 off the software and a free protective case. They won't let you buy just the GC2 without purchasing FSX.

I recently purchased a used GC2. You can still purchase a CPO GC2 from Par2Pro without FSX.

I already had a TGC 2019 license. I also bought a "demo" version of FR1 which is an old version of the Foresight sim software. It included 1 course and a driving range. I prefer the FR1 software for practicing: it shows shot trails, dispersion, as well as being able to export data. Obviously FSX is better but not $2900 better.

Foresight as well as the other authorized sellers are going to require the fsx 2020 license be purchased at the same time as the new unit. If you do go the cpo route, there may be a few places that don’t require it (eg par2pro) but I haven’t seen that many bit they are definitely out there.

Since when did Foresight make FSX2020 a requirement when buying GC2? I purchased my GC2 as a stand alone new 2 years ago. Waited 2 months then bought HMT & FSX2020. Very big fan of both when working on the swing for path and angle of attack. Maybe Foresight changes the sales policy to grow the sale during the pandemic. Sure would like to see some info on this unity graphics that was mentioned above. So far they can't even touch TGC2019. They should just do something with them and be done with the issue. Big fan of TGC2019 but only gripe is carry numbers are less in the game that are actually truly hit. Other than that I cannot recommend this enough for practice and play.

Contacting foresight directly I was able to get some off but not as much as the other poster did which is fine. When their product is 6 weeks back ordered it's harder to ask for a bunch of stuff and I am happy with the discount they gave me. Ended up just biting the bullet and buying FSX 2020 outright as well, they did offer me the option to delay the charge for that until the unit arrived which was nice. Hopefully in the future their graphics will improve, but the driving range features and free courses will get me going until I purchase TGC. After that is done it'll be nice because my only ongoing expenses will be impact screens (not sure how long they last) and golf balls. Might try out some E6 as well. They said 4 to 6 weeks until they ship so I wait until then. Thanks everyone for the helpful comments.
