I've hit balls many times on Trackman (indoors) and GC2 (indoors). I've owned both SkyTrak and Mevo+ that I used in my limited flight (6-10') outdoor setup and I can say with confidence that radar (in a limited flight setup) is inaccurate even if you're willing to spend $20k. That said, radar becomes more and more accurate with the amount of space you afford it.

I would only consider a camera based system for my usage so the news that this new system could be a more current GC2 is beyond exciting. Hoping I can get basic range functionality for $3k.

GC3 is the non-USA name for the Launch Pro launch monitor. FSX is Foresight's proprietary software suite.

I was afraid of that pricing but sounds about right. It will end up being a between the GC2 and the GC4 and more like the GC2 with HMT. There was no way this was ever going to be close to $2k or $3k.

It's actually a fair bit cheaper than GC2 if you take into account that HMT club data (as far as I'm aware) needs Foresight software and used GC2 without a software suite run around 6000 used and a certified pre-owned GC2+HMT with FSX is around 20k Canadian.

There's no information on third party software compatibility at this point, but I'd guess it's not great. If all you're after is ball data and want TGC2019, GC2 is still the clear winner.

Interesting, along with what little information we can get from the GC3 teaser posted to Youtube it seems like the Bushnell Launch Pro will be the "low" cost to entry unit and require a subscription while the GC3 will be more expensive and include the FSX software. Excited for the release of more info and pricing

Ugh, this seems to imply we’re still going to have to buy most of the real courses individually, right? Even without knowing the prices, this is not very appealing. Have been going back and forth as to how much I would actually use the portability aspect of the launch pro vs. the R/L ease of use (which I also don’t really need right now) in something like the eyexo. Given that the vast majority of my use will be right-handed in the garage, though, I think being forced to sign up for some level of FSX instead of the open nature of the Uneekors is going to end up being the tie-breaker for me.

If you have the space you can always put the GC unit on a swivel in the center of the stance mat and pivot it instead of moving it back and forth. The overhead units are a more elegant solution, though.

Sorry for the slow reply Bechs. No, not really considering the GC2 at this point. My skytrak works fine for me for now — not worth switching to tech that is no longer supported (answer would be different if I were starting from scratch). If the software options aren’t good for the GC3, will probably just wait until I’m able to upgrade to the EYEXO.

Yep, the non-supported nature of the GC2 concerned me as well. It just feels like the best method of keeping accuracy but getting around FSX limitations on the cheap

I did look into the swivel bubbtubbs, but yeah the width meant someone misses on comfortable driver swings. Those extra couple of feet! argh. EYEXO can work with some ceiling modification, just weighing up the value add. Hard to do until the full GC3 details come out.

Are the Foresight units positioned in a place that makes them vulnerable to a shank, or toe hit? How sturdy are they?

They are roughly 2’ from ball out at 45 degrees so they can be hit. I saw a Taylarmade video where they had the pros doing Happy Gilmore swings and Rory smoked the quad with a ball at full driver speed. Seemed no worse for wear afterwards.

I believe it has the same shank protection as the Quad but nothing official on it yet.

I saw that video too. Rory and his buddies were laughing about. I, on the other hand, would be crying like a baby. Also, Rory had to try to duplicate Happy's swing to plunk the Quad, but I can do it without going out of my way. Not that I expect it hit it, but I also never expect a shank. Just happens.

I also remember a post with pics of a unit (can’t remember if it was a Quad, but believe it was actual a GC2 that took a direct hit and did not look too good after). I will see if I can find that one.

Yes, this won't sell very well in my view.

If it was 3k, plus 500 bucks a year sub for everything (including access to all courses for sim play) it would kill everything skytrak, mevo plus, eyexo etc... everything.

Subscription Model chosen as is, will make this thing very difficult and tricky to resell, which is what foresight want. NO SECOND HAND MARKET for GC3.

Foresight HATE the used market for GC2 and won't support it anymore.

Maybe keep skytrak for sim play and buy gc3 for 3k with basic subscriptionfor range use, but will basic ball data tell me something i don't already know?

I'll just sit on the fence for a while.

What about those using Quad and Hawk who paid big money for their courses, won't they be upset about this?

I personally can't play sim golf if its not something like TGC with world rankings and competitions.

HappyGilmore102 i have no interest in paying any subscription fees so I haven't been following what is/isn't included, beyond the overall price points, though Foresight's history concerning their software suggests you're likely on the right track.

If I got one, my intention would be to purchase the $7k GC3 unit and never spend another cent on it except for the occasionally super-discounted courses Foresight offers. But, if I'm being honest, I'm probably just end up with an EyeXO anyway when I upgrade.

Not a big fan of subscription but to each's own. 7G is a good price for the full pay unit as it basically upgrades the GC2 technology at a similar price.
