I have seen a couple of videos about new FSX Play software being in the works. Has anyone heard anything about when they are expecting to release this? Looks like it would be a nice upgrade to fsx2020.

I think the 1st 100 should band together and request a refund for clear beta testing at best..Maybe this will drive future upgrades down to free lol or 250.??

I do feel like we are being taken advantage of. Obviously we(first 100) are enthusiastic customers that have likely invested 10s of thousand of dollars into this hobby. Whats another $500? For me, Foresight hardware is the best option, they have me by the balls.

I would have prefer a free upgrade. The improved graphics is pretty solid in my opinion, so I can swallow the $500 upgrade fee. Software developers aren't cheap these days.

So, I'm messing with the range a bit and it looks like there are a bunch of choices in there if you look around a bit. Not entirely sure, but the ground area changes a bit, and where you tee from and then perhaps the angle in?
There is a Flat Range and a Driving Range, they both still have the Eiffel Tower.
Driving Range Choices are: Palace, Fountain, Street, Bridge
Long Drive Choices are: Long Drive, Driving Range
Then they both have pin placement choices of Easy/Normal/Hard. I wish it would show me a pic of each when I click them so I could post them all but have to go in and load and fully exit. But, here is the Hard Placement with Fountain chosen.

I’ve been trying to decide between trackman indoor and the GC Quad for my home simulator for a few months now. I’ve been keeping a close eye on this new software because, as it currently stands, the trackman software is a decade or more ahead of foresight in terms of graphics and functionality.
I have played dozens of rounds on FSX 2020 and it feels like something that was released in 2005. Would love to hear from those with experience on trackman and access to the new FSX Play how it compares. I want the better data of the quad but I don’t think I’d prefer trackman for the gameplay if I had to choose today.

The thing about the quad is your not really locked into just one software. I agree fsx2020 is pretty boring visually other than working on the range. Trackman bought out and uses perfect golf if I remember correctly. It was getting pretty good for what it was at the time. With the quad you can get tgc, e6, or another newly released unity engine software that’s great as well. It remains to be seen if fsx play is done half ass like previous generations from foresight. Even though they’re using the unity engine now, no guarantee they’ll use lidar for courses, who’s even creating them or converting, how much input they will listen to from customers and so on…
Hardware first and functionality/portability…there’s no perfect across the board software that everyone loves…but it’s getting close with every update… :-)

Yeah, well said. I do like TM, but I was in the same place deciding between the two 4+ years ago and I don't regret going FS. Honestly, though, we aren't the same and it's about what's important to you. For me, the Quad is a million times better indoors and with less ball flight space. As far as software is concerned, yes, FSX 2020 might be lacking in how it looks but the ball physics are spot on, except for the cup physics, which suck a$$, but that is fixed in FSX Play, which I think is a fantastic start. I generally know when a putt should fall and when I've hit it too hard, I like hitting the back of the cup when I putt and I was never happy with the way 2020 handled my putts, but Play seems spot on.
Also, with TM, unless they've changed it, you pay $1k every year for the software. You hear all the crying on this forum about a $500 upgrade fee after 4 years of no fee?

With TM you pay an annual fee, but you get 140+ courses with amazing graphics. Given the cost of FS courses, I don’t think it’s a bad deal.
I owned a TM4 and have just switched to a GCQUAD as we’re building an indoor sim, currently FS aren’t in the same league as TM for software - not just graphics, but also features within the software.
Fingers crossed FSX Play will help to bridge the gap. That sad FS seem to be run like a hobby company - a shambles in many ways (but they do have great hardware!)

In terms of the software that works with the Quad, is there one in particular that has the same level of graphics and ball physics as TM4 indoor? I know TGC is pretty popular, but it still doesn't seem to be on the same level as TM's software. But, I've never seen it in person.
When I was demoing and playing the TM4, the things that stand out to me against FSX play beyond just the quality of the graphics are (1) ability to see and "feel" slope, not just in the fairway but undulations and contours in the green, (2) similar to the first point, the way the golf ball interacts with the slopes of the green and different types of lies (bunker and rough versus fairways and greens) seems to be more realistic.

Nice - was going to wait but well - it is what we have been talking about all weekend! Just pulled the trigger.
Any idea if they will ultimately integrate the swing catalyst software into FSX Play?

Trackman ball flight for indoor sim is not playable, major software fault which they have not fixed.
Hitting a ball and then mid flight it takes a severe right or left as ball calculation projections are only done mid flight, I assume this cannot be fixed as this has been happening for years.
Trackman software is great but not for indoor sim.

Played a couple rounds tonight. Willow Crest and La Jolla. Zero issues playing on full performance. Turns out you can’t just hit it through the trees like 2020. Didn’t play as laggy as before I’m assuming it’s because I was on full performance vs full graphics. I’ve got 5 full rounds in signed in to fsx live and it records everything but says only 17 holes played and records the 18th hole as unfinished. Physics didn’t bother me as much today it may have been from a bit of lag playing in full graphics vs full performance but I have not spun a wedge back yet in Play despite having 10-11k backspin into quite a few greens with wedges that would spin back a bit in 2020.

I disagree with the tree comment...I played two rounds yesterday as well and I hit ever flipping tree. I just though, "let me just get through one of these..."
