  • FSX Play - Bug Tracking Thread

    Hi All,,

Please use this thread to track all known bugs and issues. Please try to give as much detail as possible.

    First few I’ve noticed:

    Paris Range

    - Ball flight not reflecting LM numbers. Eg LM says 175 carry. FSX play shows ball landing circa 165, rolling out to 174. Figures on FSX play screen say 175 carry, 174 total (i.e. so ball should be spinning back, but its clearly rolling out 10 yards or so)

    - Descent angles in the analysis table are totally wrong on screen. Regularly getting 0 degrees, or 358.5 degrees.

    On course

    - Number of short chips stopping dead on first bounce, where first bounce is short of green, on fringe or even on the green

Center line is offset and won’t save for me using room config tool. Ran as admin, etc.. Also has trouble finding gc2 at startup.. had to use usb and unplug than plug it back in. No issues finding it in fsx2020 or swing catalyst. Disappointing I haven’t even used this software because of the bugs. I have an Elgin golf course code if someone want’s to trade for Lonnie Pool …

Do any of the FSX Play course have sound effect? Ball hitting the ground, tress, birds etc? I get none.

Yes to all of those. No commentary tho.

I guess it’s just like 2020 where some courses have it while others don’t. I was able to get some sound on Spanish Bay.

Finally played 3 full rounds on Play. There are definitely some major positives. Both 2020 and Play have advantages over each other. If i was just trying to play sim golf without practicing I’d probably use Play exclusively but the camera angle while putting is HORRIBLE! Why am i looking down at like a 45° angled view at the ball. Please just put the camera where our eyes would be if we were in address position. The cup on up hill putts is almost at the top of my 9’ screen. 2020 putting/chipping is far superior and i think it’s all because of this screwy camera angle. Other wise the graphics are so much better and the auto adjust aim line is really good.

Maybe try running your room config again. I haven't noticed any weird camera angles when putting or chipping. Post a screenshot to see yours?

FSX2020, Pro and PLAY all seem to be working now with alignment except for one bug maybe, think it is GC2 only.

GC2: When BALL FIND ASSISTANT is on, the alignment is perfect but for GC2 it doesn't work as it stays on the screen and just keeps looking for the ball, when I hit the ball the shot registers fine. When I click the BALL FIND ASSISTANT off the onscreen centre line shifts to the right about 1ft.

When using Auto Putt on play i hit it to a couple inches on a par three and it records it as a hole in one. WTH? Why is it not a 2?

This happened on the pitch and putt course. I’ve seen something similar happen on an up and down attempt on a par 4 where i was chipping my third shot from off the green to about a inch or two and it recorded a birdie 3 instead of 4

Golf ball stuck in top of tree and software has me trying to hit from the very top. lol. Tried to hit it staying in the tree for 3 more swings. It was funny but ruined the match i had going with another person. Also there is definitely something wrong with hitting out of bunkers with higher faces. We watch the ball hitting the top of the screen 1-2 feet above where the image shows the lip and every time the ball would hit the lip 3 feet lower. Over and over this happened. In FSX2020 if the ball hit the screen above the lip the ball would always get over.

Bunker and pitch shots near/on steep slopes needs fixed. Couldn't agree more. Some times its literally almost impossible to advance the ball past the slope.

Got another one I’ve found when playing with two people

when you hit into a hazard and take a drop the next player gets loaded with the aim line pointed in the opposite direction of the hole. Sometime a complete 180° from the green.

That would stink if you didn't notice. I've had some aim issues lately as well. I sometimes hit my driver pretty far but when it aims 333 yards over water, I don't feel very confident.

It has happened a few time where we didn’t notice and of course hit the next shot out of bounds. We were playing for $20 also. Would be nice to play without Mulligans but it’s impossible with so many glitchy things happening

At this point I’d be thrilled if it’s halfway usable by winter. I’ve completely had it with play.

I’m having a similar issue with GC3 that vrpunk posted a few weeks ago. The aim line on the range and courses is in the correct position, and all works fine in FSX 2020, but in FSX Play, although the aim line opens in the correct place, as soon as I drop a ball down, the aim line points right. I think there some kind of auto offset based on where you drop the ball, but it’s way wrong!

It’s not the entire line moving right like it would be if an offset has been applied, the line it starts in the middle of the screen where it should, but then heads right, as if aiming about 10 degrees right. I have no idea what would cause it to point right other than it thinking the screen is a lot wider than it is. Has anyone else had this issue, or had a fix? I contacted foresight support last night but no response yet. I don’t know if there’s a setting to switch off auto align to the ball?

You need to go into the Room Configuration Tool as administrator and change the DX value on both the GCQUAD and GC3 option, click save for both then close and reopen FSXPLAY. It takes a little trial and error going back and forth between room config tool and FSXPLAY moving change the value little by little until you get it where you want it. Make sure every time to open FSXPLAY again you move the ball around don’t leave it static or the software won’t recalibrate. FYI 18 inches on DX is the center of the screen. <18 inches moves the line left. >18 inches moves it to the right

sinkingputts: Thanks for the quick reply, but I've already set the values the same, and opened the software a few times. The line is always in the correct place to begin with, but as soon as GC3 sees a ball, the end of the centre line in the distance moves right.

I thought the DX value was supposed to move the entire aim line so that if you're not able to hit into the centre of your screen, you can offset it to the side of your screen? What's happening with my set up is that the centre line starts in the middle (where I want it) but it's pointing right on the screen. Instead of my aim line going in a straight vertical line into the distance, it starts in the middle and goes right about 10 degrees.

I measured the DX value as the distance between the aim line on my matt (lined up to the aim line on my projection screen) and the front of the GC3. It's about 49cm. Have I done that wrong? Should I leave the value as 0 if I don't want to offset the line? It sounds like you're saying that my value of 49cm (19 inches) would result in an offset of just 1 inch right, assuming 18 inches or less moves the line left? Or have I misunderstood what you mean? The end of my aim line is going quite a way further right than that. It's like the red alignment stick in the photo that vrpunk posted above.

I think I’ve resolved this now, after a lot of messing around. I’ve got the DX value set to approx 18 inches (47cm). I’ve been told this is the standard distance that the middle of the GC3s hitting zone would be from the centre line, if the centre line was perfectly central on the screen. In theory, I think this means I’d be seeing and hitting onto a perfectly centred line on my screen.

What’s odd, is that my GC3 is now NOT lined up to a central line, it’s lined up about a foot right so I have slightly more room for my stance with driver.

When I put a ball down, the line on screen moves right to match the centre of the hitting zone on my GC3 screen. I don’t quite understand how it knows to do this.

However, although the screen and GC3 appeared to be aligned, all my shots were going way right. As soon as I used the GC3s alignment stick, which apparently you don’t need to use indoors, shots we’re going straight.

I tested with short chips and putts, and everything was bang online.

This sounds like either the GC3 can detect it’s own position, so the DX value becomes less relevant, or you can use your alignment stick to point where you want your centre line to point, and everything else will follow that.

I’ve not tested this by moving my GC3 anywhere crazy, but all the messing with the DX value seemed to be overridden by position of the GC3 and it’s alignment stick.

Not yet tested if this works the same in FSX 2020 which doesn’t have the same auto align to the ball feature.

I am having an issue with Graphic card performance. The machine im running the game on was a prebuilt system from foresight, and FSX Play is using almost 100% of the resources on the card. This is causing the original 1060ti to overheat. I called support, and they sent me a 3060ti to solve the problem but the GPU resources are still maxed out and the card overheats. Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix?
