  • FSX Play Updates????

So, 3 weeks in, plenty of feedback on issues, some quite material, and many missing features.............

Has anyone received any indications of a next release? Frankly I fully expected they would be cranking out fixes weekly if not quicker for some of these issues.

    Thoughts?

Question for all of you that have upgraded to FSX Play. Knowing what you know now and after spending the $500, are you glad you upgraded or would you have rather waited? I am one that has not yet pulled the trigger. The graphics look great but reading the bugs and overall frustration, is it worth it?

Is it playable in its current state or not? The range thing and the Eiffel Tower makes zero sense to me where I want to choose a range. I am also a little offset in my room and wondering has that been resolved or does that need to be updated each time I turn this on?

    Thanks!

Great post... I've been wondering the same thing and meant to write a similar email about 5 different times and never got around to doing so.

glad I upgraded 100%. sure the kinks arent ironed out yet, but playing a full course is much more enjoyable on FSX Play vs FSX 2020

When first released it was not not worth $500 or $1(they should pay us). Latest update makes it a little better. I think it should have been free with no free courses for "registered beta testers". If they get all the bugs fixed, $500+2 courses is a bargain.

I don't believe it's really playable in it's current state (at least I don't use it). My understanding is some are using Play exclusively though. I have not downloaded the update yet though.

It is playable but one keeps expecting the next bug. I enjoy the graphics but use 2020 for practice still.

I purchased FSX Play and add the recent update. There are flaws and some bugs that need to be worked out along with adding many of the options that are in FSX 2020. With that being said, I think the graphics and putting are so far superior that I will not go back to 2020 unless I want to play some of the courses that aren’t available yet on FSX Play.

I see they are trying to pull more people in to the fold by adding another course if you purchase by April? I’ve got 45+ courses on fsx 2020 but I don’t think it’s really worth the jump yet until they at least fix the basics, and just add the fsx2020 range. There are other options right now besides tgc that have 4K graphics and courses for free like tpc sawgrass next week.

Anyone saying things like, "not sure I'm ready" or "waiting for blah blah..." just get it over with. You'll either just do it and see for yourself or you're waiting for no reason. You will eventually pay, you might even eventually pay more. You won't pay less, there's no benefit to a wait-and-see mentality. What am I missing?

Do I love it? No. (I do love the graphics updates despite the glitches) Do I use it? Yes, bot only when I know that all I want to do is play a round with nothing else. Isn't that what you do when you play in the real world anyway?

Again, not saying I love it, I still use 2020, ESPECIALLY when I'm working on something.

Again, you'll pay eventually and there is no benefit to waiting.

Not sure I agree with this at all...

I jumped in and ordered FSX Play about 5 weeks ago. I've played 3 rounds in it (2 prior to latest update, and 1 after) and hit a few balls at the driving range... and can't see myself using it again until it's updated again.

Do I love it? NOPE! I would love to love it - but as things stand it's a half finished piece of software. I have over 35 FSX courses, and not one of them (apart from the free ones) have been converted to Play yet. There are way too many bugs to make it playable, and bringing them to the attention of Foresight seems to do nothing.

If I'd known I'd still be in this situation over a month after purchase, would I have bought it? Probably not! It's only a few weeks until the outdoor golf season starts - so in a few weeks my sim room will probably be used for nothing more than a bit of chipping practice until September / October.
Personally, I wish I'd waited until my indoor golf starts up again and could re-assess the situation - and hopefully buy a more complete version of Play then.

As everyone knows, looks aren't everything... and currently looks are all FSX Play has to offer... whereas FSX2020 has the functionality!!

Appreciate the honesty on this. I really want to jump but even if they raise the price to $750 when the thing works might be worth the aggravation of not having to use there 20 year old download process along with a million semi updates. To me this is all about playability and entertainment. I will keep watching and practicing on FSX2020 and playing on TGC2019 for the time being.

For those that did pay and download, thank you. It is appreciated the feedback you share as many are following the progress of this launch.

Looks like Crans-Sur-Sierre Golf Club and Wentworth have been added to the FSX Play courses available.

Thanks - I can change my rant above to how ONE of my paid courses has been converted now! I hope they’ve taken the nasty looking stadiums out of Wentworth on this version?!

Lonnie Pool is one of my favorite courses on all of FSX 2020/Play. Such a fun course.

I had no idea Lonnie Pool was on fsx, I was just there. Maybe I could get them to add that as an extra course instead of del monte if I upgrade

Downloaded Wentworth, and I get “course not purchased”. I logged into FSX2020, and I definitely have Wentworth… so how do I get it to work in Play? I tried deactivate all, and the activate all - but that didn’t do anything.

It seems to work for some and not for others (like me). For my add'l courses, I had to go into 2020 and deactivate before I could activate in Play.

Weird, had no problems. For example the crans sur course it’s installed in fsx2020. Fsx play version downloaded, installed and it’s there ready to play, no messing in fsx2020.

I am pretty much the same way. I have never had to do anything special to activate a course in play. Even the new course that I did not own in 2020 automatically activated as soon as I started Play.

Not sure if this makes any difference but I always download courses with all of the programs closed. And I also ensure that my antivirus is deactivated temper early any time I load any FSX programs or courses.

I tried Play again with the new update. It's gone from "unplayable" in my book to playable. It still has nowhere near the capability of 2020, but it is much better.

did get effectively "stuck" with a shot right next to a green, the ball would just go forward about 2 ft and roll back. I finally had to take what was about a 60 yard swing to move it 10 feet. Very odd. Otherwise it worked fine and they fixed the screwed up ball flight.

Another course has sneaked in to the purchased course list to make 18 in total... i THINK it's Transit Valley
