GC3 Missing a lot of shots!!

Hi Guys,

I'm new the forum and somewhat new to the sim world. I bought a GC3 that arrived middle of last week and it is missing a lot of shots. First day, missed 3 7 irons in a row. Second day, missed 3 9 irons in a row. Friday last week, I took 13 balls and a Sand Wedge, it got 8 of them...... I'd expect a 2-3% miss rate as part and parcel of technology, but this is stupid.

Oddly records 98-99% of chip, pitch shots on anything between lob and 7 iron.

I essentially can only play Pitch and Putt course on the sim because its a waste of time trying to do anything longer.

Flagged to support team, asked me if I'm wearing white socks, send a photo of set up, new balls etc. But nothing so far.

Am I a one-off? Is this a common problem with foresight? Any fixes anyone knows?

No this is not common. Let Foresight sort it out. Really if you get the ball in the hitting zone the GC3 shouldn't miss any shots.

Could it be other things? I have a quad and a missed shot, esp for a new user, is often ball not quite int he hitting zone, light still flashing (not locked in on ball--something blocking the view, like a tee), white shoes or something else giving a reflection and taking the view of the cam away from the ball...sometimes even something reflecting on turf can make this happen.

If you happen to have any other hitting mat, I'd try and see if it still misses on the other mat.

Yeah we've checked that, its a black matt fire place behind. Very disappointing, particularly after spending so much money you'd expect this to have been properly tested before being sent out!

Before any conclusions are made, try it outside at a range or on the course.

Is the device sitting on the same surface that your ball is on? You want the device the same height as the hitting surface, but ideally not on the same surface. If you hit behind the ball (even slightly) it can cause the device to move and miss shots.

Submit a customer service ticket with Foresight. I've not been overly impressed with their customer service - however after getting two completely faulty Quads - they finally got me a third one that works as it's supposed to. I still get a 250 yard wedge with zero spin now and again, but it's pretty reliable for the most part.

As Ron said - let Foresight figure it out.

What firmware is running on your GC3? it is really weird, and, all the times the ball is in lock position ?

I'd be shocked if it's not something in your hitting area that it's locking on. A black matt might be worse than grass as anything slightly white or reflective will prob stand out more...just a guess though. If there truly is something wrong, that really sucks but I'm sure FS will make it right. I'd be shocked though. They've made enough system to know what they're doing. I've had my Quad for a good number of years and all issues were related to things I had around the hitting area and very rare in prob hundreds of thousands of shots.

They did suggest this, as one of many trouble shooting steps. However, I didnt buy it for the golf range or golf course. I bought Sim in a box for the indoor purpose. So even if it does work, that's no good to me....

Yeah. I have a second golf matt and put it on that and about 8 inches away from the original matt so it could pick up the tee shots.

Another trouble shooting step they offered was the bring them closer together, which like the driving range tip, even if that helps - its no good to me because then I cant use the tees as its too close to the gc3...

Yep, always locks ball position. Latest firmware.

Out of curiousity what were the issues in your hitting area?

The tee in my hitting are has been my own #1 issue.

For others I know, there has been:

a piece of string
shiny golf mat
white edges of golf shoes (usually with putts though since you're close)
a white tee (don't use white)
a reflective marker falling off a club and staying in the hitting zone.

anything white or reflective and could be so small that you don't see it, but the camera does.
