Hey all, I am just one word away from making this dream a reality- that word, is "yes" from my wife. I have waited several years and think I have enough points saved up to make this happen.

I would truly appreciate any comments on concerns based on this plan.

Having the best possible graphics is a top priority. I think the GC2 will be accurate enough for what I want to do.

I am going to go GC2 with TGC.

I may splurge and get a 980 graphics card if people think that will make a big difference. Will be running at 1080.

Thoughts on Cory's Raw screen material vs his finished- pretty big price difference, but I cant sew.

Let me know any thoughts or concerns. -- Should I move the PJ back a bit so it isn't directly overhead, although at 10-11 ft off the ground, I don't see how I could hit it with my club.

Dont worry about the attached file, it was a mistake.

If you can mount the projector overhead without worry of hitting it, then that's your best option. Otherwise if you mount the projector back then you might get shadows of people standing onto the screen. Also where you mount your projector determines which kind you need. Most people use a short throw projector, so you can mount it close to the screen and still have a huge display. I'm a Skytrak user. But if you went with GC2 and TGC you would be very happy! Those seem to be the best of the two worlds.

If i mount it in the center of the mat, then i should be fine.

Can i mount this within 1 foot or so of the ceiling? does that matter?

I would mount the projector last after you get the screen setup. Because you might have to move the projector closer or back to maximize the full screen. The projectors do have a zoom feature in and out. But they only zoom so far. So the placement of your projector is important. Once you get your screen, I would plug the projector in and stand and move it around in the room about where you want to mount it. This will give you the best answer on where to place it. Also the projector settings can flip the image upside down so you can mount the projector right side up or flipped. Also should be able to tilt the image up or down a certain amount. Good luck!

Great setup for space. So many have only 10 feet or so width and I would just hate feeling that crowded. As far as the overhead projector, as long as it is above the spot you hit from, no clubs should come close. If you move it forward or behind the players back a few feet, then there may be issues with flop shots or the clubs. If you watch someone swing you will see the area about 2 to 3 feet behind the persons back is the area the club comes up. You will need your projector right over top of where you place the ball so that the screen will match up with your target line.

Remember to tweak the projector or better if you can move your hitting platform a bit so that you can have the ball location straight on with the aim icon in TGC. Otherwise you tend to look at the screen and try to hit to that icon when it may actually be not lined up and you will wonder why your shots are not going straight in the game.

Awesome space. Get the raw HQ material and hire someon to sew to your specs.

Awesome space. I would use the full 16x9 by going with 19.5 x 11.5. You want the extra .5 or so your screen is not too tight. That screen size would be perfect. If I build another house I am planning to have a 20x24 area in the basement with 12 ft ceilings. 21x12.5 screen would be the size for me. You have a great viewing area behind.

You have a great room and a wide enough room, and you can take full advantage of that by aligning the ball position with the projector head, and then center both to the screen. My room is 16' wide and I offset the ball position one ft. to the right to enhance clearance from the left wall. Your 21' wide room relieves you of that concern, and you can have a more straight forward set up. TGC shows an aiming mark on center, with user request to enable offsets but no ETA yet. So, it is best to just center everything for now. Also, since your ceiling is high, you can place the PJ some 3-4 ft. (or even a bit more) back from the ball position w/o concerns for shadows, this way, you don't have something hanging over the golfer's head. (this may change your PJ selection!) Like I said, you have a great room. This front/back PJ position consideration is a minor one. Installing directly above ball position may not cause much discomfort since the ceiling is high to begin with. (You can experiment on that) Choices of HQ material, GC2, TGC, 1080P are all on the right track. Good luck!

No one has mentioned it... Par2Pro's HQ material is very good but definitely back it up with golf netting, at least the central area which will take the brunt of the impacts. The net will reduce wear on the impact screen material.
Your available space is the best configuration that I have seen on this forum. Go wide screen and go HD on the projector.
I'd move your flatscreen back from the line of fire somewhat. Why do you feel you need it as well as the projected image? I use a 23" touchscreen monitor and it is more than enough. The big flatscreen is redundant.

All great advice here for you from each of these guys. I only feel the need to reiterate one as it's something you might regret. Aja is right, move the flat screen back on the other side of the computer. You want to take NO chances. You'd be amazed what a bad golfer can achieve, and even pros hit some amazingly bad shots now and again.

The flatscreen could be used for watching regular TV when he is playing golf which is probably why he has both a projector and a TV. I agree with JV though that it is far too forward and should be moved back. Shanked shots or ricochet could lead to big problems. I'd make sure to have it at least a foot behind the hitting location to be safe.

                    Thanks for all the advice.

A few notes-- the flat screen is just for watching TV. I also have speakers in the ceiling for music, etc.

After some inter netting, I think i am going to try the perfect Golf first (cheaper) and see how i like it. I may end up getting both PG and TGC.

As for going 19ft wide, (never thought I would say this) is too big! JK, if i had a PJ that could do it and still look great, i would. From all my reading, they say with 3500 lumens, that 16ft is about the max size without looking washed out.

Makes me wonder if I need a Short throw...that is about the max lumens for short throw not getting into huge dollars...

Oh, and by the way-- wife put the nix on it for a few more months. Wearing her down slowly but surely...just gives me more time to make it perfect.
