  • Syncing shot values between Protee software and gc2

Hi everyone, I have set up Protee and tgc software with my gc2 and the carry distances on iron shots are 5-10 yards longer in Protee and tgc than what my gc2 shows. Is there a list of settings to match the software values with those of the gc2? I've searched everywhere on this site and haven't found anything . Please help!
    Thanks

The wait for spin was in the Foresight software and was there to speed up the time it took to launch a ball after being hit. With a good computer there is almost no delay so this was not needed but if you wanted to display your shot quicker you would turn off wait for spin so that the ball launched right away and then calculated the spin and added that to the flight of the ball. It was said that hitting that way would possibly make a couple of yards difference with the ball flight. If you had wait for spin the shot would not start until all the calculations were done and thus a better idea of ball flight.

I do not think any other software like TGC would have that as an option.

After being on the real life range this fall and having the laptop out there with the GC2 to watch real ball flight and match to Foresight old fs1 software, I was finding that the software had too much left and right movement of the ball on slices and hooks. Well struck balls were more accurate.

1-No prov's for me, way too much spin. Use what you like.
2-Probably once you start to notice the logo wearing off.
3-Yes. I used brand new maxfli softfli and they break a lot and i have a slower SS. I play with a callaway supersoft and just use these now all the time on the sim.

      3) Will better balls last longer (more hits) than a cheaper ball or it good practice to replace any ball after X number of shots.
      4) These are the other golf balls from TaylorMade that I sometimes use on the course. Do you think they are better?

I have to imagine that balls at driving ranges or teaching facilities like Golftec don't replace their balls that frequently so I'm surprised that the Wilsons are wearing down so badly (assuming they were better when they were new). I know you don't get the same type of spin rates using range balls as ProV1s but I wouldn't expect a sand wedge to get below 2000 rpms for one ball vs. over 8000 or 9000 rpms with another. This is all pretty new to me though. Thanks.

I use used prov1 I buy on ebay. Less than 70c a ball.

The ball makes a big difference. As much as technique.

As far as how long you should use balls, regardless of make, you should be switching them out if they get scuffed since scuffed balls wear out impact screens pretty quickly. With the rpms generated, even minor scuffs cause wear. Changing balls is cheaper than having to replace your impact screen.
I don't think I've come close to even 200 hits with the same ball.

200 hits? That doesn't seem like much. Are they worn at 200 or are you being cautious? I usually take them out when they look like they will damage my screen. My gap wedge really scuffs my ball. Like Aja says, scuff plus a ball spinning 10000 rpms travelling 100mph plus into cloth = wear on the cloth. I use cheap balls when just hitting range shots and Prov when playing a round. I bought cheap maxfli revolutions for $20 for 2 dozen at Golf Galaxy. Horrible. Low spin and high carry. NXT or mid level titleist seem fine. It turns out I seem to have tons of them that were given to me over the years that I wouldn't play a round with.

I ran some tests for KS and the OP. I used DG 48 range this time and 3.7.1.1 at my coach's house and 3.5.1.1 at my house. We hit a bunch of 150 yard cuts, draws and straight shots. 3.7 was constantly 3-6 yards short on TGC over the GC2 readout and 3.5 was really close. Some were the same carry. My conclusion is 3.5.1.1, which has been the recommended firmware for TGC since it came out is the most accurate. I haven't tried 3.10 and see no point.

If anyone needs 3.5 pm me. I'll drop box it.

I hit a bunch of shots last night with two different balls and a few different clubs. I created a new thread in the Foresight section. Would appreciate any thoughts people had. Thanks.

My only thoughts are don't expect much from 15 year old golf balls.
