luv2golf this is sales 101. The FS reps are comped more on software cross-sales then the unit itself. If they offer the unit to everyone between $6k to $6200 with software of $1800 do you really think they cannot sell the unit at that level without the software? Do you think that there is only 400-600 in margin per unit? It is a nebulous number because the salesperson doesn't want to give away a home run for a single. That is unless you are upfront with them and let them know you are only interested in the unit and cannot buy more. If they realize you honestly can only be converted into a single he is going to take it.
With some negotiation $6000-6400 is a reasonable position to get a new one. The SDK is a "junk fee" that incents the buyer to either purchase directly through FS or buy the super high margin portion of the package through the broker.
If you buy a used one at current used pricing (> $4,500) you do not have a warranty, likely have some wear and tear and are one repair or two from being within $1000 of the new price.
The used market is getting overvalued due to a supply/demand problem and people getting antsy with winter at full force.

jerry3 from what I gather, the SDK does not have any effect on playing 3rd party sims. The bluetooth is what allows the 3P sims to use the GC2 -

Agree 100%. A used electronic item that is still in production should not be going for 75% of the cost of a new one. I'm betting the bubble bursts by June. If this stuff is still going on by mid summer, it's the new normal and I'll think about getting a new one.

Pretty irrational bidding going on. Lots of time left and people jump in and try to out bid. That's not a good strategy.
Best to wait until the bidding is coming down to the wire. At this stage the end price is surely going to top 5K.

I emailed w the guy with the note selling for 2500 this morning for fun. Guy could not have seemed more shady. This is a scam. Beware.

See the other thread with regard to that one. It's a persistent scam. We keep reporting it and it keeps getting taken down. FYI, you should have known that it was a scam before e-mailing.
1. The fact that he provides an e-mail HIDDEN IN A PICTURE = SCAM. Period. No reason to investigate any further. Honestly, the fact that he provides an e-mail at all makes it very suspect. People who do this are looking to conduct the transaction outside of eBay. Which is what scammers do.
2. With anything in life, someone selling something WAY below market price is a huge red flag.

Agree. As per the press release from the feds I entered above, something going way below market value = #1 indicator you are dealing with a criminal (as I mentioned on the other thread, what you are buying is hot at best).
Dude is pretty stupid for a criminal. The low price makes even people who do not known the nuances of eBay scams (e.g. the e-mail in a picture being a red flag) nervous. The 14 courses are the giveaway. If he dropped it to five courses (or even three), he'd have a lot more success.
