  • TGC & GC2

Just setting up a GC2 simulator. Looking to add software. GC2 firmware is updated to 4.0.015 ... now need to add software last remaining piece to the puzzle. Heard the stories about TGC not being compatible ... but will work if you pay foresight 995$ fee... interesting business plan. Anyway anyone have the link to the instructions, also does anyone know if having firmware 4.0015 cause TGC not to work with GC2?

Can anyone offer up another USB extension dongle that they may recommend for my ASUS Bluetooth Adapter?

And I am going to test with an Android Phone

Thanks I do have that Asus Bluetooth adapter but looking for an extension dongle that is recommended, I bought one but I haven't heard that it was recommended or not

Also, try installing GSX and ProTee interface on another PC. This will help narrow down the issue

Based on this comment your problem has nothing to do with tgc or gsx.

Time to go back to basics. Have you followed the sticky carefully for installing the gc2 in windows? If so, can you open device manager and show us what is listed under the Bluetooth section? And also show us what is listed under the comm port section. if that is OK we can proceed to tgc connection issues otherwise you have a basic windows problem that needs fixing first.

By the way, once it is paired up then it is connected. And if it pairs then the gc2 Bluetooth is working.

Also what is this "extension dongle" you keep talking about? Should only be the Asus BT adapter and possibly a simple extension cable.

If you do use an extension cable to get the Asus BT near the gc2 then keep them a couple feet apart It's possible the bt radios can misbehave if placed right next to each other.

rbg88 are you referring to a USB cable? The you need a USB type A male to female. This would allow you to insert the ASUS adapter into the female end of the USB cable. Then you can plug the other end of the cable into the computer. This would extend your range of bluetooth.

Something like this for the cable.

              You can find cheaper.

Dont go longer than 15ft without a repeater.

Thank you, is a USB Cable even necessary as my unit is not even 5 feet away from the GC2? Furthermore, the one I have is like the one in your link I found on Amazon for like $10 for 9 feet of cable, so I don't know if I need a more expensive one to work better or what but I don't think it is the cable that is causing this issue. Anyways, thanks all for your help and input!

I would try it without the cable and see what your results are for sure. Personally I don’t use a cable either. My adapter is about 10 feet away and is in line of sight. I don’t have any issues

I don't know, but suspect the need will be based on how much wireless "noise" is present in your environment. But I can say that people have reported clear improvement using the cable in cases where there were frequent drops. But that's a bit different from the problem where you can't get a stable connection to begin with.

True, with the ASUS USB plugged in straight to my computer and with the USB extension cable I am getting the exact same results.

First try the free app on a tablet or phone. If that works the Bluetooth works. Next try a different PC with just GSX and ProTeeinterface. If that works you know what the problem is. Often it’s trial and error with a PC but you have more issues than anyone I know of.

I agree with MThunt. I am also repeating what I said earlier in case you missed it as a comment.

From my Earlier Comment: I thought nearly every foresight refurbished gc2 they upgraded to an “A” unit. Get a tablet and connect it to the android or the Apple tablet. If it’s from foresight you have a warranty for 6 months. Have them help you get it connected to the tablet. Then we can worry about the next step. We need to verify your gc2 isn’t a dud from foresight. If it is, they will fix it for you!

Unfortunately no, if you send one in to get refurbished, adding the Apple Bluetooth connection to the unit costs another $500 on top of the refurbishing...

I had issues in the past when first setting up my GC2 on Windows 10. Here are the tips I recommend to getting everything to work.

              1) If you have built in Bluetooth on your computer you want to disable it. If not skip to step 2.
              - Double Click on Bluetooth icon located bottom right corner of computer in taskbar.
              - Click on "More Bluetooth Options" on right side of screen.
              - Click on "Hardware" tab and double click on the built in Bluetooth adapter in the list. Then click on "Change Settings".
              - Click on "Driver" tab and then you can click "Disable Device"

              2) Connect your ASUS USB-BT400 Bluetooth adapter and install it.
              - After installing click on "Bluetooth" icon mentioned in step 1 and click on "More Bluetooth Options". Then under "Hardware" tab you should see your old device disabled and ASUS BT device installed and active.

              3) Pair GC2: Turn on GC2 and click on "Bluetooth" icon to view devices. Then click on Foresight_GC2 and Pair.
              - My screen shows it as "Paired" once successful.

              4) Now you need to determine which COM ports are being used. You will use the "Outgoing" COM Port in the GSX interface.
              - Click on Bluetooth icon to open, then click on "More Bluetooth Options". Click on "COM Ports" tab. You will see which COM ports are your Incoming and Outgoing. Note which COM ports they are.

              5) Now proceed with installing and setting up ProTee Interface and GSX Interface.
              - GSX Interface settings TAB:
              Connect with: Generic Serial
Serial Port: COM4 or make sure this is set to your Outgoing COM port.
              IP Address: 127.0.0.1

In GSX interface, click on TGC tab. Click the checkbox on "Use The Golf Club".

After making setting changes close the GSX interface.

              6) Ready to connect GC2 to both interfaces and then connect to TGC
              - Click on "ProTee Interface to open. When open and running you will see it in the system tray located bottom right corner of computer.
              - Click on GSX interface. Under "Status" tab, click on "Connect" slide bar.
              - You need to see Status Input and Status Output both show "Connected". If it doesn't. Slide connect to off and back on. Try multiple times. Sometimes it takes a few tries.
              - Then click on TGC icon to open TGC software and connect to server and then play TGC.

              TROUBLESHOOTING ISSUES WITH COM PORTS:
Whenever a new COM port is installed, Windows looks for the first never used number. This ensures that there are no conflicts when two of the devices are attached at the same time.

Normally people don't use their devices (as USB to COM adapters) at the same time, but the COM number increase and increase.

The issue that may occur. If you Paired and then UnPaired and Paired again several times, your device may change COM ports and the Incoming and Outgoing COM ports may increase to larger numbers. At some point the higher COM ports seem to not work well with Pairing GC2 via Bluetooth.

If you have issues connecting your GC2 after all this then do the following:
              - Click on Bluetooth icon to open, then click on "More Bluetooth Options". Click on "COM Ports" tab. Then click each Incoming and Outgoing Foresight connected device and click "Remove".
              - Then maybe turn off GC2 and turn back on. Then proceed with Pairing it again fresh.
              - Under' More Bluetooth Options" if you notice your Foresight_GC2 is set to very high COM ports I would recommend removing some COM ports using a special program. See below.

IF YOU NEED TO REMOVE COM PORTS TO FREE UP COM3 AND COM4 TO USE FOR GC2. DO THE FOLLOWING
              - This is a very cool program that allows you to remove COM ports that may have been paired/used but with issues COM ports increase.
              - Install a program called: COM Name Arbiter Setter
              Go to: https://www.uwe-sieber.de/misc_tools_e.html
              - Scroll down page and find section for "COM Name Arbiter Setter V0.7"
              -
Click the link to download and install program.
              - Note: I don't recommend removing COM1 and COM2. These are usually needed for other computer devices. I would remove all COM ports down to COM 3 as last.
              - Now you should be able to follow steps above and connect and Pair GC2 and hopefully you get it set on COM3 Incoming and COM4 Outgoing.

Good luck. Post back if any of this helps

Haha...that's all I got. Don't think I have any further details to provide. Figured I would get detailed since he continues to have problems. Biggest tip I provided is the program to remove COM ports. Otherwise it is a big pain to remove them once a USB device claimed them. Hopefully this helps him. We've all been there with issues first setting up.

HUGE Shout out to ProTee Max for resolving all issues and got me up and running! His service was Par To None!!! I have never received customer service like this from any company! Seemed like it was most likely a Driver error with the ASUS USB, but after reinstalling Windows 10 and updating the Drivers through the web instead of the CD it came with seemed to resolve the issues and I am up and running!!!

Thanks again everyone for your help and input!

If your Bluetooth is more than 4 feet away from the GC2, you need to move it closer. You can use a USB extension. Most people have the Bluetooth dongle a foot or 2 from the gc2. Mine is 6 feet but it's an extended range dongle. Works flawlessly and what you describe just doesn't happen. Start there.
