Is there a boost on gc2?

I hit balls for the first time with a gc2 at a local golf store. I have significant experience with both Skytrak an ES16. I found my ball speeds and club head speeds were significantly higher with the gc2. My club head speed is around 105 and ball speed in the low 150s. I carry the ball around 250. This is very consistent with what I do IRL. These are consistent on both Skytrak and ES 16. The gc2 put me around 109 and high 150s. My carry was routinely over 260. The ball flight was more right to left than usual but probably within the realm of normal. I was just curious to know if the stores can boost the numbers to make their clubs look better. BTW, I was hitting my normal M2 driver so I know it wasn't the club.
one thing I loved about the gc2 was the instant ball flight. Both the Skytrak and Es 16 have some delay. The Skytrak more so.

Was the LCD on the gc2 outputting ball data or was it hooked up to the "range" on a Pc?

If you were reading the numbers directly from the GC2 display then no. Since you are saying it produced the clubhead speed then you were using the Foresight PC software for the output. A GC2 does not measure the clubhead speed unless it has a HMT unit attached and you have sticker/stickers on your clubhead. The GC2 software has an input by which you can multiply the distance by a fixed number between 1 and 2.

As to the distance a GC2 computes the distance based on standard atmospheric conditions in San Diego.

BTW most people have no idea how far they hit the ball with a driver within 10 or 15 yards simply because they don't really know exactly where the ball landed and what the elevation change and ground conditions are when they "measure" their on course distance. Unless you know these numbers relative to what the GC2 is using for ambient conditions comparing the readings to your course numbers is meaningless.

I was reading it off the computer not the machine. I do know what my ball speed numbers are and they won't change with different conditions. Next time I go over I will check the machine numbers to see if they are different.

What Ron said^^^^. I hit at a golfsmith to test out some hybrid clubs and I was hitting them 20 yards farther.... it was changed on the Pc. When I bought my gc2 and play tgc sim, it replicates my game very well.

The software does not change the ball speed numbers.

How do you know what your ball speed numbers are? In particular ball speed numbers are somewhat dependent on the ball you are using and the measurement system accuracy.

A GC2 is +/- 0.5 mph accuracy for ball speed.

I've hit well over a thousand balls on Skytrak and es16. That is where I get my avg ball speed from. I'm just saying the numbers I was getting from gc2 were higher than what I normally see.
I'm not saying they were wrong. People seem to get a little defensive here sometimes. I just wondered if there was a way for the store to doctor the numbers to make it look better for their equipment.
I was using a tm tour preferred ball. Pretty similar to the prov I usually use so I doubt that would do much.
Maybe I swung faster in that environment. Maybe Skytrak and es16 read a little low.
Overall, I was very impressed with the unit. I may need to get one.

Juiced at retail.. They have the ability to "adjust" with software. The lcd GC2 read out is what you are interested in for apples to apples.

Helps to sell clubs. We'd all switch if the club we tried went further.

When I first set up my GC2 sim, the GC2 carry yardage showed 260 and on the PC the carry was closer to 300.

A few things I've learned in a few weeks of using it:
                - Is there elevation change on the range you are using?
                - In the GSX software; you can juice anything. Giving you way more distance on the sim range than what actually shows on the GC2.
                - Also, there are a few toggles in the GSX & ProTee interface that can create more distance in the SIM that what reads out on the GC2 itself.

I believe he's talking about a commercial store, where they'd be using FR1 or FSX. Either of these Foresight official softwares would not use GSX or Protee Interface. Not saying your points are moot, cuz they matter to us playing on tour. BTW, Protee can see these settings...to all those people getting an idea...

But both Foresight's FSX and FR1 have similar options to increase carry via altitude, temp, humidity...etc.

Very few golf stores I've been in have them set at default, and all of them get pissed them I tell them to turn it off.

Best bet is always to bring your own club for comparison, that you know goes X yards.
              Working...
