How do I set up skytrak and tgc to work via WiFi? Should I be using something other than the "tgc skytrak interface" program to to start the Sim each time?

Skytrak to TGC via WiFi

It should not make a difference.

i'm clicking it once, it says connecting box, it waits for about 10 seconds, popups with a message saying Skytrak box disconnected, then i click the button again, same thing happens, then after a while it works. its like it semi connects the Skytrak but loses it midway through the connection process.
its odd as it never has issues directly in the Skytrak app.

When you turn on the SkyTrak - it will appear as a wireless network which you can select to connect to. Then you need to start the "tgc skytrak interface" hit "connect to box" and wait for the "play game". Occasionally, I need to alt-tab out of a TGC round and reconnect to the SkyTrack and hit "connect to box" again. (but not "play game") and I can continue the round.
This has worked much better for me that the USB wired connection and I'm happy to not have to fight it out with the other traffic on my network to make the shots appear asap. I just figure that it's got to be better to communicate directly over the few feet from my SkyTrak to PC.

This is new to me... So, how does that work with TGC? DirectMode will setup a peer to peer connection and you will lose your internet connection.
TGC will then not be able to connect to the TGC cloud servers. Maybe SkyTrak_Seth can confirm this new connection method?

Haha. Yeah, that's actually the setup I use here at the office. PC Ethernet to the internet. PC direct mode Wi-Fi to SkyTrak.

Yeah - many here do it that way. SkyTrak_Seth have you guys ever thought about including a small usb wifi dongle? (or make the usb wired connection work better) You could stick a SkyTrak logo on the thing -- then suggest direct wifi connection with pc's and network connection only for tablets when needing internet concurrently. Cost would effectively be zero and it would completely eliminate the networks, routers, microwave ovens, etc from the current complexity of the customer service scenario. Nothing worse than trying to diagnose third party influences. Free and unsolicited advise -- as this forum seems to foster

Yeah, that idea had been floated.

Flyby and ProTee United I'm still trying to figure this out. It only worked for me when the skytrak program was NOT running in the background.

Hi guys, so at the weekend I decided to install a USB wifi 2.4ghz dongle and use that to connect to the skytrak, and use the onboard pc wifi for the internet, Previously the skytrak connected to my wifi and was on network mode, when I started the skytrak up before, the middlelight would go solid amber showing it was connected to my wifi, then went green when the app or TGC loaded. However now it's connected to my 2nd wifi USB dongle the middle light stays solid red until I open the skytrak app, then it goes green, everything seemed ok and I've been using the skytrak app on pc for the past few days, however with the disappointment of the masters par 3 comp being rained off I decided to play TGC magnolia par three, this was the first time I've used TGC since linking the skytrak to my 2nd pc wifi USB dongle. The tgc skytrak interface connects to the skytrak 1st time everytime now (before I had to click connect box a few times until it worked) but for some reason the top light stays red and the laser didn't come on, I don't recall if before I changed the setup I thought the laser came on immediately when TGC was loading, but now the top light stays red and the laser didn't come on at all, I restarted my pc a few times, and got the laser to come on for a few holes, then it disappeared, and I also got a pop up saying connection was lost (didn't specify if it was Internet or skytrak). Anyone had any issues like this when using direct connect over wifi to a USB dongle and a different wifi for the internet? Only seems to be a issue in TGC, as I've spent many hours in the skytrak pc app with this setup.
Any help or or advice would be appreciated

ProTee United any ideas why running the skytrak via wifi direct connect on a separate USB wifi dongle would cause the top red light and missing laser, seems to be intermittent for me, and the TGC connectivity to the internet has to droped out 4 times in the last day, and prior to that when the skytrak was on the same wifi network as my internet i never had TGC drop network connectivity.

Mine does that on both direct and usb but only in the TGC interface, not Skytrak app. The only way I can get it to work is to attempt to connect using direct mode which says connected but red green green with no laser then kill theTGC interface through task manager then start it again and connect again by USB. Strange but only way I can get a laser in TGC interface.

I just purchased TGC2019 and had a similar problem. My SkyTrak connects fine in Network Mode and my Windows PC (with TGC2019) is connected to the internet through ethernet but the Skytrak interface program won't recognize it.
The solution for me was to use the 1.46b interface for Skytrak, which wasn't the one auto-installed with the latest version of TGC2019.
If anyone is having this issue, I recommend installing the 1.46b interface to connect with your Skytrak box via Network Mode: https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...nterface-1-46b
