I have been looking forward to the release of TGC for quite awhile now. I wanted to try out the course architect so I laid down the 30 bucks. After downloading the game, I remembered that my high end machine is in the garage and the one in the house has an integrated HD graphics card which of course is not DirectX 11 compatible. So I brought in my Protee computer this morning and played around with it for a few hours. They are straight forward and tell you at the time of purchase that this game is early release beta and not ready for prime time, which is completely true. Initial impressions:
Pro's
-Gorgeous graphics and shot cams..would be great if they can integrate Protee.
-Auto course generator is awesome.....endless new courses at the click of a button. My mom could create nice courses with this system. I generated 3 courses and all were quite playable (save for one tree right in the middle of the green on one hole).
Con's
-Those are the only 2 pro's at the moment
-Its way
Update. HB studios has updated the early release of TGC several times now ( V0.51). Every iteration gets better but game play is still a bit easy. But over all I think they have a winner on their hand. I upgraded to a new rig with an i7 and a GTX-780, now this game flies. Load times are zilch and you can play 18 holes in 20 minutes. There are now over 1900 uses made courses uploaded. Of course there is one nice course from scratch for every 10 junk courses made with the auto designer. If this ever comes to fruition for Protee interface I think it could be awesome.
I just finished my first course from scratch, Iron Horse. The designer is not too bad but still lacks some needed tool. Here is a link to some pics.
