Hi all,
Looking for some friendly advice please. I've had my Skytrak for a couple of years with JNPG as my sim software but haven't really used it as much as hoped due to the setup I had - without going into detail it was basically dangerous and put me off using it.
However, I've got that sorted out now, so my attention has turned to the full sim experience. I don't need to explain the JNPG issue but I'm in the market for a replacement and I've always really liked TGC as a program and I'd like to base my next move on it. My problem is that I went way over budget on fixing my indoor setup and now have very limited funds to spend on both software and a dedicated PC.
My sim area is in an outbuilding and I can't use my day to day high-end PC in there for the golf sim purposes unfortunately and just can't justify buying another right now. However I do have an old gaming PC which runs TGC1 very nicely indeed (and can handle TGC2019 but it's possibly closer to minimum spec than recommended really - seems to cope with TGC19 admirably though). I also have enough leftover from my building upgrade budget to purchase TGC1 one-off but not TGC2019 (sorry, but I won't be going the annual fee route, I just don't see the value in it).
So, I'm looking very closely at TGC1 as an option but I'm keen to know if it's still a viable option in that a) I can easily shift the license if I upgrade the machine to something a little more powerful - I know the policy is one machine only and that's fine but if I need to change that machine, can it be done without a tiresome interrogation? b) somewhat linked to a - when the funds and hardware are there, can I upgrade easily to TGC 2019 without fuss? I know I'll need to pay, just want to know it's straightforward and that it will remain an option without being withdrawn and made to pay the full whack c) the longevity of TGC1? I mean, if I buy and decide to stick with it, how long before the servers get turned off and the vast majority of courses become unavailable? d) I've never played the sim version, just the standard PC steam game - is there a good variety of non professional version length courses i.e. real life major venues with tee boxes that would be considered member/senior tees rather than championship at Augusta/St Andrews/Troon/Turnberry/Pebble etc.?
Input much appreciated

I think I'm won over though, super excited to get it all sorted out tomorrow!
