  • TGC Review

Bubba22 I seriously have to question your impartially after your TGC review. Straight 10s for everything and a solitary 8.

Yet there's no real range functionality. No different tees for men/women/seniors/kids in the same match. Requirement for a supercomputer. I also wasnt overly impressed with your short chip video on YouTube the ball didn't seem to travel as far in TGC as it did in real life.

Don't get me wrong TGC is good, but 9.8 really?

  • #2
You have been misinformed. There are over 50+ driving ranges available, lots of stats and all your shots are recorded and there is no need for a supercomputer.
    I would give it a 10 out of 10!

You are right about the different tees, but what not is will come...

Bubba22 Thanks for the great review!

I know there are 50 ranges. But their not really ranges no tracers or ability to tag clubs.

I don't like how u move posts you dislike out of the TGC forum and hide away elsewhere.

Bubba can speak for himself, but I understood his review as applying to the Protee system, not TGC. It was under the Protee system review section. Pros like "accuracy, club data, awesome putting, customer support" and setup listed as a con sounded pretty accurate to me for the Protee system. No comments at all that seemed to refer to TGC.

I don't see any review by Bubba in the TGC section.

Are you looking at something else?

It looks like a simulator review to me. Ease of set up was a negative. Everyone knows Protee is hard to set up. I don't get it? It's his opinion.

MrHogan Posts are moved to the correct forum. Your post is now in the TGC forum where it belongs and NOT in the TGC for SkyTrak forum.

How about a pic showing multiple colour tracers and dispersion circles?

The software doesn't have that feature.

What a great job by whoever built that range!

      • #7
Do the ranges show offline deviaton stats, and data like max height or angle of descent?

What about ability to hit to pins at arbitrary distances?

Do they allow you to hit multiple shots and show dispersion?

Can one can export stats and data to a spreadsheet?

These are all features a full range should have but it isn't clear if tgc has them and without a playable demo it is hard to know. The pc version doesn't seem to have that capability.

Based on one persons opinion. As you can see from the wishlist, others have a very different opinion of what they would like to see and would probably rate it differently.

That's why the review raised my eyebrows

Wow, you all have high expectations. We do not want to position TGC as a practice/range/fitting tool. The main reason for this is that every system out there already has its own range/practice/fitting tools.

For example Trackman. They have awesome practice features with state of the art analysis tools. We do not want to implement the same in TGC. We leave that up to them and focus on the high end graphics and great gameplay.

You will be able to export stats and data to a spreadsheet, but we will not build a "full range".

Are you saying someone should only post their opinion if it's not positive?

Of course not but I didn't feel straight 10s was balanced given there are shortcomings.

I think it's a little disingenious to ask for impartiality when asking someone to post their opinion. It's an opinion. And it's also the opinion of someone who is not a judge in some contest or arbiter in a legal contest. It's just an opinion.

Hogan seems stuck on the protee review so i regret posting my follow-up range question here...but i was asking because with the gc2 we only have tgc so it would be nice if tgc ranges were a little more useful. My Optishot has the stuff i mentioned and i found it useful so a gc2/tgc combo sounds like a big step backwards if you don't have it and don't plan to provide it.

its a review of protee TGC. TGC is TGC regardless of the underlying hardware. Are we not talking TGC in here?

The review you are referring to is about the ProTee TGC 2016 PACK. This is the ProTee Sensor System w/camera package including TGC. Not just TGC as stand alone software. You can find that here: http://golfsimulatorforum.com/review/tgc

FaultyClubs Trust me... eventually most of these features will be implemented, its just not planned. We are implementing lots of great new features which cost a lot of time to develop. Do not purchase TGC based on what might be offered in the future aka "coming soon". Make a buying decision based on what there is available right now. It will only get better...

Hogan my review is jut an opinion. If you are calling me biased, I take serious offence to that. I am a big fan of a well setup Protee system and the review included ProTee and TGC. I love the TGC software. I do have some inside knowledge on where it's going which includes club averaging, stats etc. Perhaps this is reflected in he review for right or for wrong. Everybody will put weight on what counts in a software or system. Is GC2 better than ProTee? Maybe? In my hands not great enough to switch as my ProTee works great. The fact is I recommend everyone to try all software Red Chain, TGC, E6 and PG before deciding what they like.

If you want to test different software I suggest you source out what is available in your area. For example mthunt went to several places including mine to looks at different hardware and software before making a choice.

This is my point for people on the skytrak forum too........there are these crazy expectations that are available with FSX software or Trackman devices that people are now expecting to see on a $1,000 Software package with a $2,000 launch monitor.

It's really quite funny how many people expect all these feature sets to just be 'included'. Sure, let the race to zero begin now.
