Is anyone else having issues holding the greens in TGC? Last night playing q-school on Great Tottingham, i couldn't get hardly any shots to hold greens. On par 5's, two to three times i had about 85 yards and a 58 wedge with 8k+ spin and it just runs through the green. A few times i hit 6 irons in the 165yd range with 4.5K-5.2K spin and they would run through. Seems no matter what i hit i could not get shots to hold.

If anything, with GC2, I find the green sticky. If you land on a downslope though it's gone. You can adjust green friction though. +or- 5% is allowed in tournament play.My Courses:

I find that on the protee system playing the TGC, the balls don't spin as much on the green as they do in real life, they really seem to run on.Last edited by Cklguy2013; 02-26-2016, 04:39 PM.

when i play any course in TGC.. i felt that green is too hard and dry.. so i couldn't stop ball like you even i hit ball with wedge..
but i found why..
when i made my course for practicing pitching shot.. i had same result. so i edit my course and i drop green hardness to soft and wet condition. less than 40%
then i could enjoy TGC like real course condition. i could make to stop ball and i could make backspin.
so i think TGC nomal green condition is too fast and hard. and i think almost TGC course didnt change it.
when i play TGC.. i test 1 hole and if green is too fast and hard.. i dont play it. i think even rory cant stop ball..
so i suggest that make your own course and find your greean condition for enjoy backspin.
i made course for 50m pitching shot. and it's green condition is slow.
search '50m' and test it. you can see that ball stop quickly
and use titleist pro v1.
im korean. my english is bad.. hahah~Last edited by thedancerjin; 02-27-2016, 03:00 PM.

Thats not really the news that most new TGC new Skytrak users will want to hear as we won't be able to play any of the existing courses realistically - @Protee is there plans to adjust the green firmness prior to a round. Last night I played the first leg of the Q school and couldnt hold a wedge on the greens, then afterwards played the magnolia par 3 and the ball reacted on the greens like I would normally expect it too.

wbond have you determined that it is dependent on the course? Hopefully ProTee United can weigh in if this will be an upcoming update to change the green firmness. I will try to post some videos / screen shots of spin rates, LA etc. over the wkd. Wondering is this a GC2 TGC problem at all?

Been playing TGC for over a year (with the ProTee sensor). I've always felt the greens pretty close to what happens on the course, especially for approach shots. Don't know why there's an issue all of a sudden. Seems that this is an issue for the SkyTrak users only. Or maybe I should say, those new users who haven't really got their feet wet with the gamut of TGC usage.
It is course related to some degree especially if the designer has put in extreme contouring. But, just as in real life it's practically impossible to stay on those types of greens, same is true for TGC courses. Don't think any fiddling with green friction is going to change those types of situations.
I believe that one of the previous updates allowed the TGC settings to overide the green speed or friction setting that designers specified in their course designs and thus the TGC sim settings specify one setting for all courses / greens. This doesn't stop the ball from rolling off due to extreme contours however.
Correct me if I'm wrong.Last edited by aja; 02-27-2016, 05:36 PM.
