  • Putting lines and graphics card

Hi, I realize this is going to be a tough question to answer but maybe somebody has updated their graphics card and can tell a difference. I have trouble making out the tracking lines on the green grids. I can make them out but they are not very sharp. I change the views and it doesnt really help. I have a nvidia gt 720, not the greatest graphics card but not horrible either. has anybody upgraded to a gtx 970 or 980 or even less and noticed a difference? I know it's hard to know my baseline but just thought I'd throw this out there. Thanks.

I have an over clocked 950 and it works perfectly at the recommended settings for the 970. As to your question - I see the putting lines very clearly. I was going to upgrade to the 970 but I haven't bothered because the 950 is really good. Also once the weather turns I won't step foot in my sim room.

Thanks Mario, so to be clear, the white dashes (for the lack of a better term) that move in the direction the ball breaks are very clear, right?

Does anybody know whether there is a standard reference distance for each box on the green grid--for example, does each box represent a 3ft by 3ft square (or some other distance like 2 x2) or is it different from green to green?

Not sure if you're referring to how well you can see them on a projector screen or the computer screen. I have a 970 and its very clear on the computer but not completely on the projector screen. It pretty good for shorter putts but for the longer ones I sometimes need to walk up to the computer to see it better. I have upped the default graphic settings some, maybe I need to up them more, haven't tried because it has been running so smoothly already. I think most of it has to do with how much ambient light is in your room with the projector though. I have a decent amount at times, so that is where most of my problem lies

Thanks Iron, that helps. Not familiar with the inputs on the 970. I'm sure you have one hdmi, is there 2? I have projector set for hdmi and my monitor for dvi. Funny thing is I look at my monitor for break since I adjust line on monitor. I may actually try looking at the projector to see if it is better. It hadnt occurred to me until you said that. If you do only have one hdmi, do you have it the other way around than me, ie, the hdmi set on monitor and dvi set on projector?

I would imagine it's a consistently spaced grid across all greens. Not sure of size

Ill have to check again when i get off work if my 970 had 2 hdmi ports or just one, cant remember. But I do know I have one 50ft hdmi cord running from my basement outside to the garage and used an hdmi splitter from there to have one cord go to the monitor (actually using a small HD tv that i wasnt using anymore as my monitor) and the other cord to one of the 2 hdmi slots on my optoma 1080ST. So really only needed one hdmi slot on my graphics cards with that set up. And so there is no question if using a splitter messes up any picture quality, I tried it without the splitter as well and noticed no changes in the picture quality from one to the other

The difference may not be due to the graphics card. It could very well be the projector. What kinds of projector / projector resolution are you using?

It's a benq but I have been looking at the monitor for my reads. I still haven't had a chance to play again but will look at my projector since it has the hdmi next time. If that isn't better I will put the hdmi into my monitor. If that doesn't work...well I can still see the movement indicators enough to get a decent guess.

TIP: When on the green there is this yellow aiming pole displaying distance and height. You can move this pole around with the W A S D keys on your keyboard. This allows you to see the distance from the hole and the height difference at any position on the green.
