    Hey guys,

    Can someone explain me pls the following :

    If I know the stimp of a green of a course HOW can I then make it same when I design a course

    I'm in the process of making Al Badia in Dubai and so far so good , but when it comes down to green speed I only can adjust it in circle for
    So maybe could someone tell me how much the value of the circle is (eg if circle is half ful it's stimp 8, or whatever)

    Then also in the config file of the SDK , there is a value stimp : which now is set to 7 ! Does that mean that all the courses are set to 7 or which courses are set to this, because if 1000 people make a course 1000 people do have different stimp settings , right?

    In your design you can set green stimp to any value you want. TGC Simulator will override the green stimp set by the designer. The user can set the stimp in the config file to match the speed of his/her turf.

      Although I'm still little confused , so pls explain :

      1) how much is the value of the circle which you adjust when designing a course (if I put 1/4 circle how much does that translate in stimp number , or 1/2 circle , 3/4 circle and full circle

      2) so doesn't matter how much anybody does set the green speed , if I adjust the green stimp number in the config file ... ALL the courses greens will be adjusted to THAT number???

        TGC is a video game that was converted to a simulator software. The sim version has a universal setting for stimp settings. It doesn't matter what you set it to in your design. It'll always roll 8 feet. If 8 feet is too slow, you can set your personal sim to a higher setting. If you want more info on green speeds in the video game version, check the HB Studios forum. There is a lot of info.

          My thought was that green speed dial range spanned the lowest and highest USGA generally accepted ranges, so 4 for lower end local courses, and 15 for the US Open Oakmont. Plus or minus 1 -2 based on fairway hardness which also seems to effect green speed.

          What I think ProTee was saying is that any user can override the green speed set by you the designer in the config file for the course when it is saved on their local computer.

            Very interesting mthunt... All green speeds don't seem to be created equal when I'm playing different courses on the sim. There don't seem to be large differences, but they sure don't seem to be the same.

                Oh I wasn't doubting you. You know way more about the software than I care to. It just makes me think there must be several impacting factors to how they play, other than the green speed itself. Like perhaps theme and fairway hardness.

                  How about the actual slope of the green. Stimp can only really be measured on a perfectly flat surface. Introduce any variation in terms of slope - up, down or away and you won't get the same result.
