  • Ordering Custom Printed Balls to use with Uneekor

I wanted to start a topic where we could gather information regarding custom ordering golf balls with the Uneekor pattern on it. After the few tests I've seen, and the one posted here by Gene, it seems a high-end ball is going to be much better than the ones that come with the system.

I have tried a few different companies, and so far none offer the "all over" design that Uneekor uses. The best I can do is two get a double print that used the logo on the "top seam" and "bottom seam". I don't believe this would allow enough tracking points, as the dots would be separated by a seam that would have no dots.

I've sent an email to Vice Golf to see if they would print on all three of the un-used seams - see the attachment for what I sent them. They show the ability to print on the top, bottom, and left seam, which would give you an entire side of the ball with the markings on it.

Uneekor owners really do need a "high end" ball that has the correct markings as I'm sure most people who are going to spend 6k on the system usually play higher end balls, and you want to be able to play and practice with the same ball.

If anyone comes up with a way to achieve this, maybe post it here, as many companies require a MINIMUM of 12 dozen in order to even start the process of customizing a golf ball. Maybe we can all pull together to find someone willing to get us a premium ball with the correct markings.

I heard back from both Vice Golf and Snell, they both said they could not do custom printing on more than two sides. I think trying to find an actual manufacturer that will print on all six sides is going to be next to impossible. Custom printing is about the only way to go.

so has anyone confirmed that marking a ball with sharpies will work, but using some kind of stickers will not?

Yes it seems like this is the case. If you were in a situation where weren't concerned with marking up your screen, it seems sharpies will work. There is a YouTube video comparing the Uneekor Ball to a Pro V1...I believe the Pro V1 was just marked with something like a sharpie.

Have any of you tried Staedtler Lumocolor 317 Permanent mediums? I came across this in a 2011 forum where everyone was bashing Sharpies for golf balls.

        Hey guys,

My Uneekor will be arriving soon, I ordered balls from Vice using this logo on both sides.....hoping it'll work.

They have a 'scaling' function on their website, so I maxed it out and seems to cover maybe 30% of the surface area on each side.

Has anyone else tried this? If so, maybe post the pattern you used. I created mine using powerpoint, saving the slide as a jpeg so I could upload the image on Vice's website.

This is what Vice shows they'll look like.

Maybe if I set the ball up to have the dots pointing slightly forward, with only 3 or 4 dots showing overhead, it'll get enough of a read.

I like your plan, I am hopeful you get good results....please let us know.

I talked with Callaway today and they can't do it. They can customize the Truvis ball, but not to what Uneekor needs.

I got to test the custom printed ProV1's today - they work perfectly. The markings are UV printed, and so far after about 100 wedge shots still look perfect!

Also, here is the comparison with the Uneekor balls (in blue) and the ProV1's (purple) - I hit about 15 shots with each and only saved the ones that we're close together. I'm about a 4-5 HC and these were hit with a 56 wedge. IMO, there isn't that much difference in performance - the spin is obviously higher with the premium ball, but distance was fairly close.

Hey JG, this is awesome, thanks so much for all the research/testing etc. Let me know if you're going to move forward with an order and I'll place one too.

What happens when you where the spots away so they are faded. Miss reads and Randy loses. Rjd1975!

Great news.....I'm somewhat confused as to why your numbers are so close compared to the test I did. My Pro V numbers match up well with you, but I never could get the spin numbers you get on the Uneekor balls. You are a better golfer, is it possible that the better golfer sees less of an impact of a premium ball than a older, slower swinging golfer???

Is the price still $100 for a dozen?

I was using a 56 wedge and trying to add as much spin as possible. It could be a higher swing speed that's making the spin numbers higher on the Uneekor balls.

I tested my driver as well, and the spin, speed, and carry distances on good strikes we're all very similar for each ball. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two if you mixed them up and hit random balls within the system. From 8 iron to driver the numbers were very close. I only saw about a 1k increase in spin on high lofted wedges.

And the guy who ran the printed balls for me said it was a pain running them. He said he would let me know price / dozen on Monday but it would be more than $100/dozen unfortunately.

gene438 I agree. The shots I hit with the stock balls were closer to 5K but either way I am happy that we have a potential solution. Thanks JG GOLF

For those who have done testing or talked to Uneekor, does the geometric pattern and dot size not matter? I read in this thread the calloway pentagons dont work. So what is the requirement?

I think the dots have to be black. I'm not sure that pattern matters much, as long as there is enough dots on the ball to be read from any angle.

I’m really amazed that your results are so close together. Harry did a test and his results were similar to mine in that spin rates were almost double on wedges.

Looking at the data it appears that you are able to get much more out of the Uneekor balls than the rest of us.

Too bad about his costs.....based on your results, it’s not worth the effort.

Right. I think the feel of the Uneekor is somewhat "soft" but the ProV1s feel is obviously softer. I was surprised at the results as well. I'm a decent wedge player and my spin rates are usually between 9 and 10k for my 56 on ProV1s. I noticed when I first got the Uneekor that the balls were spinning up to 9k, and my driver was still going just as far.

One thing I noticed from coming from the Skytrak is that I've never had that Skytrak display ball speeds over 151mph the entire time I had it.

The Uneekor shows ball speeds of 165 to 169mph consistently on drives.

Depending on volume of use, even professionally marked balls will wear out relatively fast, because the same ball is hit over and over in indoor simulation. Personally, I do not view paying $100 for a dozen of professionally marked balls to be a reasonable option. Based in my die cutting experience with reflective dots, I am working on a new system to mark your own golf balls with the Uneekor pattern. It involves use of professionally laser produced and die cut decals with the exact 3 dot design in the correct dimensions. I believe 5 stickers per ball will provide enough coverage and will leave an area of the ball that can be struck without striking the decals for even greater longevity. Unfortunately, the materials needed to make the decals are not cheap either. I'm trying to figure a way to get costs down to $1 per ball for 5 of these stickers. This would bring the cost down to about $66 per dozen. That's basically a 75% savings for the marking process. Additionally, the end user will be able any ball of his/her choosing, and will be able to repair a damaged mark on the ball by simply applying a new sticker.

sounds great, HarryB, keep us posted. I'd pay $100 per dozen as well, though, if its a better solution. although, given that most of us have a ton of balls already, your solution would be $12/dozen given that we could just put the stickers on our pre-existing balls.
