I’m building a house looking to potentially buy a golf simulator. The room (3rd garage) that I was hoping to use is13’8 wide,(may add 1 or 2 feet), 22 feet long 10’8high. Looking for a setup/recommendation for home use. The hope would be to have a sim that could be used by lefties and righties without having to move something back and forth.
Ideally something accurate with a good selection of courses as well as a driving range. I want a projector and putting is a nice to have but not a priority given I have not found them to be all that great for sim play.
Hoping to keep it around $20k or less. Appreciate any feedback.

Your dimensions look fine. If you can get the width to 15'-16', I would do it. The biggest decision you will have is to decide which launch monitor to use. The righty/lefty setup limits your options or increases your price. The GCHawk would probably be great when it comes out, but may be out of your price range and you are probably locked into using Foresight's software. I believe the Protee systems are probably one of the best for righty/lefty setups. You could pair that with TGC software and definitely stay under budget. If you don't have to have the righty/lefty setup, I would go with a GC2 and then you have your choice of several software options such as TGC, FSX, E6. and JNPG. You will definitely find help on here for the other things you'll need, but your launch monitor is the biggest and costliest decision.

Thanks for the input Kent. Talked to the builder and it’s $1k per foot to widen. Not opposed to doing it but wondering if you can elaborate on the benefits? I am familiar with the E6 software but not any of the others... favorites?

My room is about 14' wide and 24' long. I hit a little less than a foot off center, but I have a TV hung on the wall and everyone's swing is different so you might not need that much room. If you are having lefties and righties hit from the same spot you will probably need around 15' of width. Most 1080p projectors use a 16:9 format, so more width is needed to get a taller projection. I only have experience with TGC and am pleased with it.

Don't scrimp on room size, especially width. The minimum dimensions are shown here: https://csc.protee-united.com/hc/en-...tor-dimensions

I would also do everything possible to increase ceiling height since subfloor installations can cut into available height.

If you are planning on getting full use of the sim, with buddies over, etc, you don't want to be playing in a sardine can.

ProTee is a good choice for a system that accomodates lefties / righties since the sensor is floor mounted.
