    E6 or FSX2018

Hardware aside, I’m looking for input as to which software guys would choose. I’m just in the final decision process. I’m either going gc2/E6 or gc2/HMT/FSX2018. The difference is about $2500 CAD. I’m having a hard time deciding.
My time would be split between practice and simulation time with the overall goal to improve.
I like what E6 has for practice and simulation. I’m unsure of FSX. Although the HMT is nice, I’m not sure it’s what I need. How is the game simulation in FSX2018 compared to E6?
You guys that have experience with both, which do you recommend?

      Have you used FSX too?

if $2500 is the difference between having an HMT or not having an HMT, i'd go with FSX all day long.
E6 may or may not be the best simulator in the world but the feedback that HMT will give you is invaluable and far more useful than any sim.
        Cheers

With FSX2018 it's a no-brainer. When it was E6 vs FSX I'd give the edge to E6. Sim play on FSX2018 is excellent, probably the best. When you say $2500 difference how is that? With E6 Connect you are looking at a subscription so your cost is spread out. Look at it this way, FSX2018 is designed for your hardware and E6 is not.

Very arguable. Just my opinion of course, but one shared by many good instructors. Yes, it may be helpful for a few who have a really good understanding of their mechanics, but even then hardly invaluable. But for many ams it can easily do more harm than good. It only tells you what the club was doing. It doesn't tell you anything about why it was doing that or whether it was good or bad or what might be needed to fix it if it really was showing a problem. It's information about what the body is doing that's truly invaluable, not the club Most would be better off taking that money and finding a really good pro who can teach you to do self video analysis. And then you can use the rest of the $2400 for whatever gives you the most enjoyment.

Wont try to argue which is the better software, never tried FSX (original or 2018) only played E6, but E6 1.6 is still available for a single cost ($1800) , no subscription is required. Might even be able to get it for less second hand ;-)

Yes, but for how long and with what kind of support. Companies tend to start ignoring the old stuff but I'm sure it will be viable for a while. Definitely an option but I would think about it. Do you want to save some money now or invest in the future.....

It's certainly a valid question. But it's going to be the same for any non-subscription based purchase for any product from any company. All software has a limited service life. Personally I'd rather put my money on a well established product, they tend to be more stable. And the support for more sensors means a larger customer base and much higher chance that the bugs have been found and worked out. But everyone has to make their own choices.

I have owned E6 and currently own FSX2018. I would say FSX2018 is much better than E6. I have not seen the "new" version of E6 (E6 Connect)

Does the FSX2018 software have multiple game modes like E6? I like the alternate shot format and stuff like that when friends are over.

Also, what does FSX2018 have for short game practice? There isn’t much on the net about it.

FSX has stoke, match, scamble, stableford and modified stableford. I think that is it but would need to check the interface to be sure.

For short game you can simply drop any place on any course you own. they also have a skills challenge where you can hit like 10 shots from different distances and get points. There is an online leaderboard for that. I don't use it much but friends I've had over seem to like it.

Thanks guys. I think I’m going FSX2018. Not sure if E6 connect is even going to be available on the GC2. I think my dedicated practice and sim desires are perfectly matched to the gc2/HMT/FSX2018 combo. Just have to get by that high price tag even though it’s a sweet deal.

I thought I would just say that I have both e6 as well as 1.6 and both are very stable platforms. Not sure if there is much need for support if you don’t change things too much. I tend not to use the regular e6 any longer as I prefer the lighting on 1.6 as well as how it looks and plays overall.
