Hello, I am a future new user and have played several simulators before, hence me coming to this site fore advice. I have looked around on here and now there are way too many options to choose from. Haha. I was almost set on an Optishot system but it seems that there are so many more out there. Space is not an issue. My budget is around $4000. If i don't have to spend anywhere near that I would be happy. Any advice would be appreciated.

You can get close to that number with a skytrak or mevo+ setup doing it via diy. -
For your budget I would highly recommend a Skytrak. I started with a Skytrak and then upgraded to a Uneekor after really getting into sim golf. The Skytrak is great for the money- I was happy with it and the guy who bought it from me has enjoyed it as well.Comment

Hey, I'm completely new to this, so take this for what it's worth.
I've been researching launch monitors in this price range, and it seems the Mevo+ and the SkyTrak are the clear leaders. They go back and forth to me in terms of an edge. However, neither device provides swing data, and I cannot find any add-ons that would provide that. If your budget was around $4k for the device (before the setup of screen, mat, etc), is there an option out there that provides all that the Mevo+ does as well as swing analysis and works well with the top sim software out there?

It's not even a comparison. Skytrak is an actual launch monitor. Meaning that it actually monitors the launch of the ball.Originally posted by 4theDogs View Post
Optishot is not a launch monitor. It simply uses a sensor to see what the club is doing at impact. Have you ever played the Tiger Woods golf game on the Nintendo Wii? That's basically optishot. You literally don't even need to use a ball to use the Optishot. It's a video game, whereas the Skytrak is an actual launch monitor.

Haha I know what you mean. To your original post, Mevo or Skytrak will make up about half your budget (they are both in the 2k price range). Some ways to keep it under 4k total would be to just hit into a net with a monitor (so you don't have to buy a screen and projector and possibly not a full-blown enclosure either). Although I favor TGC over e6, the Mevo does come equipped with 5 e6 courses so you could save a little money if you were fine with just 5 courses for now. So basically, 2k for Mevo and the 5 courses, under 1k for a refurbished gaming computer, a few hundred bucks for a net and a few hundred on a mat and you can keep it under 4k total.

I was in the same boat you are in, golf simulator for $4,000 or less. I decided on the Mevo+ as I have the space, comes with the 5 courses (ios only), provides some club data and no annual fees unlike the Skytrak. I also already have the ipad and do not have a PC capable of sim.
The good news about the 14 week wait on Mevo+ is allowed time to shop and find used projector and impact screen. Should be receiving Mevo+ in 3 weeks.
Below is my budget and where I am project to date. It looks like I am going to make it under budget, but I am pretty sure there will be a couple unaccounted for items

Noob20 - have a look at ProTee, they include club data built in, and there are no annual fees! The trade-offs are only a few: 1.) you have to custom build a stance mat, or your flooring to house an embedded sensor (which is 24" x 12") that measures your club data. 2.) you have to have very specific halogen lighting (mounted in the exact position for measuring ball flight. Most ProTee systems already include the lights, and the cans(to mount them in), 3.) you will need 2 cameras a horizontal & vertical that need to be mounted in position to measure your ball flight after impact (again most ProTee systems, including used) include the cameras/mounting hardware.
The ProTee sensor hitting mat is the best, it has something like 160 sensors in the mat, more than any other you will find. It is also one of the first to come out, so it's been through a lot, and updated many times.Comment

Another good option, but my understanding this would need to be a permanent setup. I need to keep my garage a garage, so will be taking down every time. -
ProTee is not always a permanent setup. (it can be, if you want it)
I bought a used ProTee from someone that had it mounted in his garage, he sent me a video showing the entire setup lifting up to his garage wall when he had to use his garage. There are others up here that can comment on this type of setup as well.
