Always was a dream to build a Golf Simulator, I have my chance now and i want to build it right also great the first time

I have already purchased the SkyTrak

Here is what i am thinking
    • Custom Shed 10.6'Wx10'Hx17'D The shed will be climate controlled with Heat and AC
    • Carl's Place DIY Enclosure - Aspect Ratio 1:1, Size 9.5Hx9.5Wx5D, Screen Premium OR All Sport System SuperBay Golf Bay 9Hx10Wx5D (4-3 aspect ratio)
    • Optoma EH200ST OR Optoma EH460ST
    • SkyRailPLUS Projector Cage Mount for cages OR Optoma ceiling mount (Depends on the Enclosure)
    • Fiberbuilt Combo Golf Mat & Putting Green - Center Hitting 10x10

I am so excited for this project and also excited to hear everyone's comments and suggestions
Please feel free to offer your opinions and if i have might have left anything out

    Thank you so much

Your "shed" size is very limiting. Definitely need to go bigger for overall comfort.

Add more width to your shed or the 10x10 center hitting mat with be a waste.

Totally agree 10 wide is too narrow
        and very limiting

even though you may be Abel to swing longer clubs it will hinder your swing

        my sheds exactly those dimension
I’m offset way right to even allow right handers to attempt to swing longer clubs
i can’t swing longer than a 3/4 iron without getting all hinkey with it

if your only dealing with right handed golfers 13 foot
if your dealing with both l n r then 16 foot

        but as a general rule
bigger is better in this instance , if at all possible

I just finished enclosing my 10'x18' high wall golf shed knowing that 10' wide would be less than optimal. 180sqft is maximum shed size my township will permit. I'm 6'1", right handed and if I offset 14" from center line I can swing a normal driver. I have 4 rounds played plus a few hours on the range in the shed without issue. Someone with a flat swing might have an issue.
The township also limits us to only one shed and I need to store lawn equipment in it as well. After 2+ years of thinking about it, 10x18 was the best I could come up with to accommodate all my needs. I'm currently very happy with the outcome.

Wow thank you for all the responses.

Unfortunately 10 feet is the widest i can achieve, I was sad about that, but was willing to give it a shot.
What do you think if i add a another foot of ceiling height?
The ceiling in the shed will be vaulted (I think that what it is called). I have attached a pic this is a basic shed i just wanted to show the size of the ceiling

What do you guys think of this mat of the double hitting mat I've included a pic.

Being i am right handed golfer, i feel standing all the way to the right of the screen i think i am never going to hit the center of the screen.
If anyone has a suggestion on mats if the double hitting wont work, and already know the center hitting will not work.

What do you think of the other suggestion? from enclosures to projectors?

I really don't want to scrap this project but I do want a functionally place to play golf.

I am 6 feet tall and swing a 45.5 inch driver

            Thank you

My shed is a foot shorter than the one above(9' wall including plates). About 2' over 5' pitch truss/gable gusseted at the peak only, no bottom beam. It is plenty of height for me.

            Don’t get me wrong
for a righty with the hitting area moved to the right
the space will allow you to physically swing all your clubs

i find that size space mentally limiting
i simply can’t swing fully or properly beyond a long iron

that said there’s plenty that can be done and courses played with 3 iron on down , if you find that same issue

im very happy with what I have and I’m sure you will be too

It’s doable but too small IMO. Don’t expect to have friends over. No where to stand and they will likely feel boxed in. Saying that you don’t need advice if that is all you have. Just build it and have fun.

You guys are so right, no matter what build what I can and have fun with it
Question as far as the enclosure which one would you guys decide to go with 9.5x9.5x5 or the 10x9x5
The selection will decide which mount I would use
also if you can provide some input on the projector that would be awesome.

                Thank you all

I would not put an enclosure in there. Mount angle irons to side walls and ceiling and attach the screen. You don’t want to make a small space even smaller by adding a cage.

Hi Eddie! Congrats on the decision to get into sim golf... it's awesome! As for tight spaces, I did a ton or reasearch on this site as well since my dedicated room is 11' W x 9' H x 13.5' D. I have to hit offset, and it's not that big a deal... you get used to it. It also has some added benefits because you can rotate your screen at least once and perhaps more instead of buying a complete new one.

Here is another thread that you might find some useful info in. People that responded also had narrow rooms, so you could potentially reach out to them as well for other questions. https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...o-else-has-one

Oh, and I'll echo wbond 's suggestion to go with angle iron. I followed this advice when I was in your boots a couple of years ago and have not regretted it for a second. With a tight space, you can't afford to waste a single inch!

I think the taller the ceiling the better and won’t make things feel so cramped for you (even if there is a vault in there). I have a small room in my house that I have often considered for a right handed only GC2 or quad set up. The room is only about 11 feet wide and 12 long, but vaults up to a 12 foot (at least ceiling) and this space feels very spacious.

Zero help, but a fun idea...

Build your shed with expanding slide out walls. 3 extra feet on each side.(Think RV expansion)
                        .
Stay up to code, 180 sq ft, yet expand your swing space to a more comfortable 16' wide area. Collapse the wall or walls when you are done.
