  • A new build in Virginia

    Hello all -

I just found the forum several weeks back and have learned a great deal from all of you - thank you!

I'm in the fortunate position to design from scratch an 25 x 25 addition which will be 2/3 occupied by a simulator build. (I deftly negotiated a new office/exercise area for my wife in the other 1/3 to grease the skids and that seems to have done the trick for now!)

Interested in opinions - what would be the ideaI setup dimension wise? I'm thinking 17 feet wide by 16 feet deep by 11.5 high. This 17/16/11.5 area would be dedicated to golf as I envision an entertainment/seating area behind the simulator and a safe distance from errant clubs/balls. Important note - the space will need to accommodate both LH/RH players.

I will need to provide my designer/architect with the necessities he needs (adjustments to framing, electrical, cabling, adjustments to flooring, etc.) over the next 3-4 weeks so I'm busy reading through all of the Simulator build posts to gather up my notes - any of your thoughts are welcome.

    Thanks!!

So seating will be in addition to the 16 feet of depth? Have a look at some of the recent builds this past six months as I think some of those are going to give you some pretty great ideas!

Yes, seating will be separate and in addition to the 16 feet of depth. I love shep12's build below - very inspired by it but the wife wants to entertain non-golfers also so don't think the seating config.will work but love the bar. Regarding shep12's build?? Is there any advantage to having a sunken floor or was that just the way his particular space was configured?

Pretty pumped with how everything turned out. Couple minor things to finish up but have really been enjoying it. Foresight has been pretty good to work with.

Thank you. To answer your question, I had to go down to get 10’ ceiling height but I’m actually happy it turned out that way. It gives the hitting area a nice separation.

I am not sure of the reason, but think it might have been to get the right ceiling height. 11.5 feet is more than enough and will be great!
