  • Ideal hitting distance from screen?

My Uneekor EyeXO comes this week and so I'm beginning to measure out the golf sim room for mounting, and eventually installing a screen/projector.

The room is 15'2" wide, 10' tall, and around 30' long, so there is plenty of room to choose how far I will be from the screen. The question is, without any space constraint what is the ideal distance to be away from the screen? I will leave 1.5' foot for room behind the screen, and place the Uneekor unit accordingly.

Also, when mounting a screen do you prefer it directly in front of you while hitting? Or should it be offset to the back some, to accommodate lefties so they don't feel as if it is behind them?

Mileage will vary with each user on ideal distance. If the ceiling is 10’ tall than being up to 12’ away ‘should’ result in no wedges hitting the ceiling. Some may not want to be that far back because it reduces your lounge area in the back. I would go 10’ personally.

    why 18” behind the screen?

Everyone is different but I personally want the ball centered to the space, not my body.

That's a great point about the wedges, and really what I'm after. I feel like I'll nail the ceiling from 12' with a 58, but since my screen will be almost 15' wide I like to be far back.

I think 18" behind the screen just to leave room to have some padding, speakers etc. Do you think it's too much?

Many have said on here that they cannot get launch above 35* even when hitting a flop shot.

12’ back with the enclosure sticking out 4’ from the screen seems pretty safe. Although the projector mount location needs to be considered. If it is 6’ from screen than you may not feel comfortable being 6’ back from that

I have a room almost this exact size, mine is 23’ long but same dims otherwise. How do you plan to mount your screen in the room? I’m planning for a 14.5’ x 9.5’ screen. Projector 7.5’ away from screen, ceiling mounted. Hitting mat under projector and QED mounted 3.5’ behind that. Thoughts?

Yes, I read your other post and learned a lot there. Right now I'm planning to use unistrut on the walls and ceiling, bungie clips on a raw screen. I haven't started researching projector length yet, but I'm worried now that given the EyeXO has to be 3.5 feet in front of the ball, it may collide with the projector...

14.5' x 9.5' will have gaps at the top of the screen for 16:9 projection ratio, I think.

I have just over 9 foot ceilings, and am set up about 12 feet from the screen. I usually hit the top of my enclosure with my sand wedge. So likely will be moving in a couple feet to maybe 10 feet

How far does your enclosure come out from the screen towards the hitting location?

I’m 10 ft to the screen and my 60 wedge probably hits 8 ft up on the screen on a normal shot. I could see opening the face and it would hit the top bar at 9 ft, so you wanna be careful on those cause they rebound high and farther back so your floor needs some absorption 4ft out in my case..

Just measured and enclosure comes out about 4.5 feet from hitting screen

My hitting area is 10' from the screen. On long SW shots, the ball will climb up the screen big time. Make sure you have padding on the ceiling. I have an EYE XO and my projector is basically above me at 10.5'. No issues with the Uneekor.

What did you use for padding on the ceiling?

Gman17 thanks for sharing your experiences - how high is your screen? And what projector have you installed to give you this throw distance? I’m planning for similar hitting and projector distances from the screen.

About 1:1 ratio with your ceiling height is gonna put your lob wedge at about the top end of the clearance. I wouldn't stray too far back from this.
