Hitting Mat Spot Light

I'm wiring in a ceiling mounted spot light to illum the hitting area. Plan is to put it on its own wall dimmer switch. Any recommendations on a good spot light that directs light down, keeping unnecessary light off the screen? Light will be mounted about 10' from screen, on a 10' ceiling, aimed at the center of a 4x9 hitting mat. Thanks!

I have a standard recessed can with an LED floodlight in it. Works great. I also have a 10 foot ceiling and 10 feet from my screen. This setup has very little if any washout on my impact screen, it would serve you well.

I do not have mine on a dimmer though, be careful here due to many LEDs not being dimmable.

Super concentrated beam, virtually no ambient light towards the screen. I doubt you could hook it up to a dimmer but it wouldn’t really be needed. I turn all the lights off in the garage, put this guy on and I’m good to go.

This Philips 25-degree LED bulb works great for me, lights up about a 5' circle from 10' above floor with a nice warm glow with soft edges: https://amzn.to/3lKBkcK (it's not dimmable, though, but I've never felt the need to dim it)

Regarding the pinspot light above, I tried that one, and my personal opinion was that the very sharp edges of the light circle was a bit distracting and "artificial" feeling.

This one plugs in. Here are a couple pics. one with all other lights off and one with the surrounding lights on. Sorry about the projector image, we are moving so my PC is packed away. I hooked the iphone up to the projector and the aspect was off.

Thanks all. I’m going to use these low profile LED’s for the rest of the ceiling lights in the room. May look at installing one can light over the mat, so I can use the spot bulb that Ron mentioned above. Agree, no need to dim it, thanks for that recommendation.

Is one light over the hitting area sufficient even to see? Sounds like it is, would two lights be too much light and possibly wash out on the screen?

Just something to think about, I'm not saying it will apply to you. I installed a focus light above the ball but also installed Phillips Hue strip lights around the ceiling edge. I've noticed if the focus light over the ball is above 20% my skytrak doesn't read as well. The ambient light from the strip lights around the ceiling provide sufficient light and don't interfere with the launch monitor.

Careful with the positioning overhead. If you put it exactly over the hitting spot you might find yourself casting a shadow over the ball when putting.

Ya know...I planned to not put the spot light over the ball on a dimmer. But the more I think about it, I'm going to. Just in case something like this is an issue with the QED. Thanks for mentioning it. I think the idea of LED lights around the edge of the ceiling tho too. Do you have a pic you can share of the LED strip strips lighting your area?

I assume you don't want to place this directly above the hitting area as I would think it would create a shadow. How far forward of the hitting area should this be placed?
