hello - i have seen some posts on here about people who have cut into their concrete slab to have the fiberbuilt hitting mat sit flush with the rest of the floors. im at the stage of pouring the slab and am putting more thought into if this is what i want to do vs just buying a studio mat and putting it down over standard flooring. what is the best method for a clean finished look with the hitting mat? can you share a picture of your finished product please? is standing on putting turf over concrete working for you as a stance mat? thanks in advance

Having just putting turf over concrete is a bit firm, and pre-cutting the concrete for a hitting strip really locks you into a ball position for the long run.
I'd recommend leaving concrete flat, and putting a 1" sub-layer beneath turf (Foamular from Home Depot is $0.70/sqft, EVA foam tiles on Amazon are $2/sqft - need the latter under your stance area as the Foamular will dent there), then something like our Money Putt turf over floor, and cut out the turf and foam for either a Fiberbuilt strip or our Holy Grail strip (which is also covered with Money Putt, for a perfectly matched and flush surface, much better to putt on than Fiberbuilt). The 1" EVA foam under Money Putt gives a great feeling underfoot for the room, firm and not too squishy, yet not as punishing as turf over concrete.
Having the turf raised an inch has two other benefits: it lets you hide the bottom bar of your screen enclosure behind it to eliminate chance of a ball strike, and is deep enough to cut one or more low-profile putting cups into it.- Ron at GunghoGolf.com - we specialize in TrackMan, FlightScope, Foresight, Uneekor, SkyTrak, Garmin, Bushnell, TGC, and E6 Connect. 512-861-4151 or email hello AT gunghogolf.com.

Agreed except if you only have 94 inch ceiling height like somebody very near and dear to me.

I’m really interested in the Holy Grail strip (currently using a CCE and my wrists are not a fan) and doing what you prescribe above which you mentioned you have been doing for installs and I had a couple questions.
1. Have you been affixing the Money Putt turf onto the EVA foam or does it just sit on top without any issues?
2. Am I correct that the Holy Grail strip just sits directly on the concrete (and I think the site says it comes with Velcro?), will it stay pretty secure?
3. I’m doing this install in my garage, and have to park my car there from time to time (tho not regularly) is there any issue if the car sometimes drives over the Money Putt Turf + EVA foam tiles (it wouldn’t drive over the hitting strip since that would be centered). I am hoping not to have a set up that requires moving hitting area components, but just curious if bringing in the car will be an issue long term.
Thanks!
