Martin's been busy with tons of updates and still coming up with new spin devices. Any LX Pro users out there willing to give a review?

Martin: face palm, skytrak: face palm. Room full of monkeys: relatively brilliant.

Maybe he was too busy watching what was happening to his competitors that he forgot to check his inventory?

Lol. That's funny but might actually be true. Last week he said he only had 4 GSA golf licenses left to sell. Hm......

Martin at GSX made some videos of the LX detecting chips and putts.

Lots of updates on GSA's LX launch monitor. Some info on e6 cloud also on his site.

After reading up would never touch these any of these with a barge poll, but some of the things on his site leave me thinking "good idea, nice price etc."

Seems that most of his old stuff calculates ball spin data so most of that can be disregarded. His site is a massive headache just to try to pick a system, and then you would have a bigger headache for setup/support.

LX pro - $2499 - Like the idea of it tracking ball data and also being able to track club path/face angle and speed, (can only track ball or club data use one at a time and needs trigger mat sensor for club data)
                        CTS - $1999 - Club track path/face angle speed

How comparible would the CTS be to say the GC2 HMT, does it only give club face angle, club patch and speed or is it like the GC2 HMT below.
                        • Club Head Velocity: +/- 0.75 mph
                        • Swing Path In / Out: +/- 0.5 degrees
                        • Swing Path Up / Down: +/- 0.5 degrees
                        • Club Face Open / Closed: +/- 0.75 degrees
                        • Club Face Angle: +/- 0.5 degrees
                        • Club Face Lie Angle: +/- 0.25 degrees
                        • Club Face Loft Angle: +/- 0.75 degrees

He then already has a newer system saying coming later the LX SURROUND. He says this tracks club/ball including spin (my system holy grail for $4999). but also says that the cx2 and cx3 can be upgraded for $1500. This confuses me more as the CX2 and CX3 says spin calculated, will the new enclosure upgrade add spin numbers to the CX2/3?

The LX Surround is a pipe dream until he can get the overhead spin cam to actually measure spin. That has yet to happen. It's super difficult to do.

I'll have to look again, but last I check, the club cam estimates club face. It looks like the LX's are finally working. But don't expect GC2 or even Skytrak like play-n-play. These are for very technical people only, IMO.

Besides that, he might be too late to the party. How can he compete with SkyTrak at $1700 or used GC2s for $3000-4500 or whatever else that might come along?

Hmm. I have recently been discussing with a few people about going in on an indoor golf facility. I stumbled onto GSA about a year ago and forgot about them until now... After reading through this thread I think I will be avoiding them despite the attractive prices.

Time for me to come out of the closet and admit that I have an LX Pro. I started out with a P3Pro for many years but sold that when I was offered to buy an old FullSwing system for almost nothing (they had to abandon the premises). It was so old it ran Win95... I contacted the local agent about an upgrade but it was silly expensive. They then offered to buy the dongle and sensor boards from me and offered almost 3 times what I had paid. Couldn't resist that (and I wanted club tracking + ball spin) and ended up having a full enclosure, impact screen, projector, hitting mats etc for free + $ to buy other hardware. Tried to scan the market for something for less than $4000 that would both be good for training and playing simulator. Ended up with pre-ordering an LX + a CTS which I would get straight away. That was 2 years ago.
Maybe not the best decision I've made in my days, but I liked the fact that Martin was very open with how the system works and that it was a bit of DIY involved.
You've heard the story before about support etc and to make it short I received a CTS which I barely could get to work (mainly due to poor image processing) and had to wait for ages before receiving my LX (got it Dec 2013). Was struggling like many others to try to get it working. Not so much with drivers etc (OK , had some of that as well) but mainly with the settings in the control panel and the inconsistent results it produced. Summer 2014 I was offered a free of charge hardware upgrade (mod B). Took some time but I must admit that the system returned was better and more promising. Still nothing which was playable in the simulator with friends. Martin kept coming up with new ideas and versions but nothing making any real improvement. Free balls with a special dot pattern for spin detection was nice and promising, but still not quite there.
But I'm an IT guy and have been working with image analysis (and medical simulators) quite a lot. So I kept on hassling Martin with images about how I could do better image analysis with the same image data (easy to save images from the control panel) and offered my help. First for the CTS but he didn't trigger on that. Then recently I did some work on the ball finding in LX and now he responded.
So, yes, if you have looked at his tech news recently, I'm that Swedish guy.We aren't quite finished yet, but have been collaborating for a while on improving on the precision of ball size detection and dot detection (for spin rate). This will greatly improve on ball speed and spin rate precision. The biggest improvement will be on path (azimuth) event though this is of course still the weakest point with cameras looking from the side. Current indications are +- 1 degree on path though, and that's pretty decent I think.
So I would say stay tuned as there might be a future for the LX after all

Interesting update. Good luck SwedishGuy! I hope you guys are successful moving forward before even more options hit the market over the next year or so. Things are only getting more competitive.
