        Gents,

After discussions with others and hard thought, in the best interest of the sport and online play we will be moving towards required videos of your round. In real golf we have players we play against that keep us honest. When something is in doubt we ask for advise during game play. In virtual World we lack this element, there is no accountability to maintain integrity. My guess is the players that are honest will not have an issue with this, and will welcome it. Players that take advantage of Virtual World may not like it..

After this Major it will be required to have Video for each round, It can be You Tube, Twitch, or any other type of recording software, Most of the Players already have this set up, The web cam should be position to have you including in it, and a caption of the Software, impact screen. Both game and you..

I will end with this, my gut tells me the majority of the Golfers within the league are good honest players that love this sport and try hard each week to end on top.. In the best interest of them and the game I will not have their efforts be in vain for the minority that will do anything to win.. This new Guideline will weed out those who want to take advantage and allow those that work hard for the win get what they deserve..

        Thanks,

        CatMan

So i made this video for a number of reasons. After the St. Andrews tournament a new rule will be coming into effect. And that's about having to record your round and also having you in it. Personally i think that's over doing it. So to give you an example. From playing a round and uploading it to youtube im looking at over 1.5 hours to do all this. my round takes 25 minutes to play and about 40-50 minutes to download to youtube. i tried to stream live and it kept kicking me out of the game because computer is running to slow so that option is out for me. The other thing i notice its slows my computer down while running my camera and im not about going out to buy a new one. i don't want to quit playing in the tournaments but with all these rules its forcing me not to play in them. So im just making a point because it was noted that the guys that have no problem with it will do everything to follow the rules and the guys that are hiding something will quit. So im showing this video that i have nothing to hide. Because after St Andrews if rules are not revisted then i will just have to opt out of tournaments unfortanutely and play in the lobbly where everybody cheats i guess. Hopefully im not the only one voicing an option on this and if i am i guess im going to look like the bad one.

I think this is a good idea.

Didn't quite understand what is required... Just to make sure... Was I doing it wrong (is this in part aimed at me) when I changed it so that the laptop is closer to me for easy access to aiming cursors etc and not on me and my impact screen and thus 10 ft behind me? I'll change angles if required. I've also ordered a new webcam to be able to have 2 angles as per Mr Hogan.

As far as the twitch capture for each round is concerned, I think it's about as bad an idea can be as far as attracting new people to the league. I just made an account on the twitch site and I'm trying to get used to the (extremely limited) mac version of the obs software. My mic is currently about 3 seconds slower than the webcam video overlay and theres no way to adjust it on the mac software which is going to annoy the heck outta me lol. I understand that you guys are wanting to weed out any cheaters from the league and I'll comply the best I can but having to deal with all this extra stuff just to play in the league is more of a hassle than it's worth for a lot of people. For instance, the screen capture software slows down gameplay causing longer play time and more aggravation. For me, there is no option to upload the screen captured video at home seeing as I have satellite internet and a 400mb daily internet use limit that I share with 4 other people. The only option I have is to play / record at home and upload the video the next time I go to work (which is frowned upon, by the way).

All that being said, the moment I sense a hint of trouble with upper management at work in regards to uploading my playing videos, at work, will most likely be the last time I play in the league. Playing in this league is obviously an extracurricular activity for us and to be honest, I saw this coming the moment people began complaining about an average player having a great round. I'm all about having each person post a video of 2 or 3 holes for everyone to get a feel for how good they are at the game, but requiring every person to record and document every single round is asking a lot. Being new to the league; I feel like these requirements will deter newcomers from joining; they would have detered or atleast delayed my joining the league to begin with.

I think we should continue to allow it to be voluntary whether you want to stream or not.
Not everyone has the necessary hardware for it, or the technical ability.

Hey guys, I have to say that making it obligatory to video every round is a bit too severe to keep it fair for eveyone imo. It will defintely keep potential players from joining our tour. For all of us that can't twitch or webcam ( due to older, slower computers or limited internet access). Recording every round and uploadind to youtube is time consuming and a pain in the butt. My next recording will be shot from behind me and you will see me swinging into my screen but the image of the game wont be as clear for you.
Having said that, in the three years since I've had my Optishot, playing online with you guys and playing in these tournaments has been by far the most fun I've had with it ! I will always play by the league rules and respect the game but what if for some reason, my the memory on my smartphone that I record my rounds runs out or the battery dies on the 16th hole in the final round of a major ? Am I disqualified ? If that's the case then this new rule is not fair.
Maybe a good solution to keep out the " cheaters" is to make everyone video ONE round to show your actually playing golf and swinging all your clubs. Then videoing is your choice. Just an idea. BTW how could anyone actually cheat once we have all seen his set up, swing and a whole round of play ?

                  Cheers ☺

I'm just curious, do you not hit a ball with your woods? Since you said you've blown up 3 impact screens I can understand and this also explains how you play your rounds so fast, but you are using the "real ball" setting right?

As far as requiring video, I like the idea in theory, however as others have stated this will likely limit our growth severely. Some folks may not have computer skills to figure it out or even a machine that can stream and play at the same time. I like the fact that twitch automatically stores the video so there is no upload to youtube needed.

Rather than exclude those people what about placing them in a different "flight"? We could have streamers versus streamers and non streamers versus non streamers? The hope would be that everyone would stream but the reality is that streaming may not be possible at all times.

Another solution could be to award double or triple points to streamers while keeping non streamers in the same group. This would encourage people to stream while allowing everyone to compete in the same tournaments.

The problem I guess is that a person COULD post one streaming round and shoot an 75-80 or 90 for example and then go out and shoot 60's in the tournaments. One round does not mean anything.

To go a little further with your suggestion could be a "random streaming required". Draw a few names out of a hat and they HAVE to stream for that tournament.

I think I like my idea where we are flexible and accept anyone but reward streamers far more than non streamers. Giving double or triple points for streamers would encourage streaming while allowing everyone to compete.

Hey Buckeye, congrats on your last tourny by the way. I still don't know how someone can cheat after we have all seen his setup, swing, round etc... The score doesn't mean anything. My best round is -12 and my worst is an 90 ! What would we all be looking for ?

                        Cheers

                          Guys,
I hear all of you, we will take a vote on this please PM me yes or no. Remember however the vote turns out we need to live
with. It will be a blind vote.

If we decide not to do it I am not going to police it, for this is the only tool we have.

You know position from earlier post, but i wii go with majority. Or maybe a different solution.

The only way I can see cheating is the manipulation of club distances or swing speeds. Also it seems that which ball is selected and used plays a major role too.

I guess what I was saying is that just because you've seen a set up once does not mean a player does not change it later. Just for example, when I first starting playing with you guys I was playing on a concrete floor with a PVC pipe anchored to the floor to keep my optishot unit square. Since then I have purchased a stance mat and have covered the entire floor in a putting green type carpet and have taped my woods. In another 2 or 3 weeks I will have a cage set up and hopefully hitting real balls. I fully expect my game to change dramatically from my first rounds when I am fully set up.

I simply think that it is not a good idea to EXCLUDE people who can not or will not stream. I would rather see a large reward system in place for those who do stream.

You have to remember Max that we are likely to grow in the future. Just for example I've seen OptiShot's facebook page claim that over 500 people have claimed their recent sale on the product on three separate occasions. That is a potential 1500 people who will be looking for a place to play online golf. Even if we tap in to 5% of those that is an extra 75 people.

I think CatMan for the most part is winging it and doing a great job at that, but I think he is also looking for long term solutions for potential problems. We have no idea when OptiShot themselves will be hosting tournaments and how they will function. When OptiShot launches their own online tournaments how will they prevent cheating? What I am saying is that even after OptiShot launches their tournament system it may not be any good and we still end up playing here, so it is best in my opinion to look for long term solutions when discussing rules.

I here you Buckeye, but if someone is driving the ball longer than Bubba Watson, we need proof ,but for the rest of us just playing the game we love, it's not fun proving every round that we are "not" cheating . Anyway whatever the vote is I am cool with. Good luck in the British buddy !
