  • To be real or not to be real?

Set Optishot for real life distances or not?

On avg, I would say 240 total. Our best and longest player is Cart, who avg around 270. He best that I've seen was 295. HoganWoods is close behind followed by Rambo. Then it drops a bit from there. Our highest cap player avg around 200, but will catch one clean for 250 once in a while.

My drives are around 240-250 total on the ProTee. In real life, carry is the same but I get more roll on courses in my area.

My swings speeds, personally, are pretty close with my driver. The distance however is not. So I would be reducing my distances in the form of the distance setting not the swing speed. So are we all just gonna go to the range and adjust our distances down until we get our real life results?
Yes Corey, this is what we would like all players to do...

Here you go Buckeye As simple as it gets for a solution....

So you guys average 240 and play 6500 yards.

We average 280+ and play 6500 yards.

See the problem with scores now?

          Where is the solution?

          Where is your idea?

          • Buckeye we had this conversation offline, it not the driving distance that scores low on the sim, it helps a little, but if your concerned about your score, work on your game.. Approach shot, getting up and down, work on putting.. that is what puts low scores up...

But it would be nice if players adjusted their driver distance,, Don't hate the player hate the game

That's part of it. Optishot putting is too easy. The cup is like a ball magnet. Any ball near it will fall in. But it is what it is.

You guys have to the tools to make driver and iron distances closer to real life, whether it be swing speed or distance adjustments. Just all agree to do it and move on. If anybody is found to be suspicous by the board, investigate and dole out the punishment/banishment as was done previously.

Wow! Thats in line with the internet averages i posted at the beginning.. you must have a bunch of sh!t players on your tour coz we can all hit it 280 down our local courses. Apparently.

Yes. The point was that even if we dial our drivers down to realistic numbers as was suggested we would NOT have too play from the forward tees as CatMan said we would. You guys are averaging 240 and yet still play 6500 to 7000 yards so we should be able to as well. That is all.

I agree with you completely with the putting, but I lost that argument too.

                  • Tell you truthfully I could probably play with my 3 Wood and score almost as low as I do now,, Distance helps in lowing score but its not why players are scoring low.. If you have a golf swing the simulator will produce low scores its that simple... If you played on another Simulator like Pro Tee where Ball launch and other factors are considered you are not going to score as low.... the putting is a lot easier on opti then real life...

So even though driving distance is a factor it is not why we score low on the Sim

Depends how optishot is feeling, i 4 putted the 1st and 3 putted the 2nd in my 2nd round 1hr ago. I dont 4 putt ever in real life. Ever.

                      • To prove this point I think I will play with 3 Wood from back tees, in Moderate Winds to see what kind of score I can get, after my Tournament Round...

                        • I agree with ZMax. Sim golf has factors you can't change that make it easier than real golf : sand play, rough play, side hill lie, no divot lies etc etc. You can't get that with any sim. Wha you can control is ball/club aspects tha affect distance and accuracy. Everyone should hit their distances and ball flight like they do for real. We play at 6300-6500 yards and things are cool. With majors at 7000, we struggle. Throw in wind and it's a bitch, just like real golf. It will NEVER be the same but try to make it as "the same" as you can. Just my advice.

I take it you haven't putted on fast greens. I 3 to 5 putt So it's not that easy. If you hit it to hard it like it hits the flag and keeps on trucking on by. So please don't say it easy to putt on optishot. I'm putting roughly 40 strokes per 18 so half of my score goes to putting which IRl i do not do. Then you have to fight the wind on the green which I think exaggerates the break.

So, we are leaving things at 100% because you don't think it would change anything.

                              Just making sure I understand.

And please let us know how many 300-350 yard drives you achieve with your 3w.
