No ball #'s are WAY off for me. Had my 160 8-iron @ 120. All Speeds would have to be set @ 115 and up. Some quite high.

I agree and great work and dedication John. When this league blows up a d we have a hundred players, the rules will be much needed. Also thank you you to everyone who has contributed to this.

Hopefully Hogan makes it back. I think he could agree to the changes.
Thank you especially JohnMeyer for the hard work. You have literally worked on this more than anyone spending hours with folks testing and writing and rewriting and rewriting again the final draft.
Much appreciated.

33 pages id say, plus 2 other threads, lots of disagreements, plus hours of testing to come up with what was basically said here

33 pages id say, plus 2 other threads, lots of disagreements, plus hours of testing to come up with what was basically said hereOriginally posted by MrHogan View PostThats in line with my experience too. I used to have my driver on 82 or 84% to get realistic distances I cant quite remember what it was now.
And imho that must be the same for everyone else too, though folks always err on the side of the longer shot for their average.
Talk of someone needing to increase beyond 100% to reflect their real game is fantasy. I also cant see how or why you would want to impose a limit on swing speeds thats the fast swinging players advantage (id say they also suffer from greater dispersion too). I stream every round and before i tee off i demonstrate the ball and club settings, i also include a webcam of my swing. This is my insurance policy should i ever shoot a low score and come under suspicion.
Personally id rather play my realistic distances but its impossible to police so 100% seems the only way, we could all agree to a lower value like 85% but you can imagine the length of debate that would cause..
Brilliant work everyone, thanks for all your input. The final proposed new rules are now being taken to the Board for approval
I'd encourage you all to read back through this thread. Interesting to see how the different sections of our new rules materialised with little bits of info from so many people, the difference between foam and Real etc very interesting

As long as you can prove your real life swing speed then you can apply for exemption, as I'm guessing you believe optishot is reading you speed low hence why you think you need the extra speed % associated with the thick turf setting

A very high tee will behave the same as thick turf... So you might need to contact the board and get checked out and maybe get exemption.Originally posted by Joe_SBy the way: What's the difference between stock and thick turf? If it's only the distance from sensors then i will make my turf thicker... Reason for this: I've tested the settings for stock and thick turf and thick turf settings fit more to my real life distances. Could be because I'm hitting my driver very high...

Punte's launch angle is lower than yours, his smash factor is higher and his ball speed is higher. All of those things indicate that your carry distance is less plus your roll out distance is less.Originally posted by Willymakit View Post
So I noticed punte put some stats up and if you look at his swings. They are all in the neighbourhood of 285 avg with a 118 mph swing. Those are almost exactly the stats I would get. So thanks punte for saving me time and money to prove my point that I been saying from day one. And this looks like it's used to calibrate was a trackman. So I think this conversion is done and I can go to the board with this information and go back to my settings I had previously.

This seems to be the distance from the turf. Nearer to the sensor gives you a higher swing speed, I assume...Originally posted by Wild_Dog View Postreal ball and aftermarket turf. But you aren't understanding the gist of my post. Regardless of the results on the optishot I don't hit it past my buddy in real life. But on Optishot with the same driver and same setup I blow it by him. 100% distance and swing speed for both of us. He hits it pretty close to his real life results. I hit it 20 yards further. So trying to make a standard won't work. The system isn't accurate enough for that. If you really want to dial back the scores it has nothing to do with how far we are hitting driver. I watch the streams and some of you guys have tour caliber iron games. Pin seeking every shot.

Maybe the reason for that is because of a few things optishot doesn't pick up. And that launch angle and ball spin So maybe in real life you actually swing harder then him, but not having the numbers to go that distance. I'm not here for a debate I know where your coming from. You also have to understand its a400 dollar machine. So take it for what's it worth.
And your right about pin seeking. The optishot only reads speed and club angle and that's about it. And if you can figure out how to keep club on a straight line and straight club face. You can shoot low scores.

I have said this before that the swing speed is off compared to the distance you are getting. Even though I feel the distance is right. To make it bang on so both match up. Go and set speed at 105 and distance at 90. That's bang on for 280 yard drive.Originally posted by Wild_Dog View PostPlayed last night with a buddy. IRL he is a 4 cap and hits driver 290-300 all day long, GPS verified. I normally hit it 280. On the optishot last night...same driver and same setup. He hits it 280-290 with an average of 113mph swing speed. I hit it over 300 pretty much everytime with a 115-120mph swing speed. My normal swing speed is 110mph so unless I gained 10mph over the last few months because of beer the optishot isn't accurate enough for this type of testing. Again...we played together with the same ping g15 taped driver.
Are you using real or foam ball and settings.
Until this big debate came up I never tried hitting a foam ball. What I did find with hitting a foam ball set at 100/100 was getting to 130ss with a 330yard drives. So the settings they have come up with now are pretty close.
But here is what I found out from playing a foam ball. You know that feeling when you hit a drive off the heel or toe with a real ball the club will torque and your club will twist that's why I was getting 12 degrees closed some of the time. And maybe the reason for that is. I play with a stiff shaft on the optishot and extra stuff with 72 gram shat IRl.
So back the the foam ball I get no more 12 degree shots. I'm down to the 3 degree which is more accurate for my swing IRl.
