Buckeye you need to stop spinning,Originally posted by Buckeye View Post
So, we are leaving things at 100% because you don't think it would change anything.
Just making sure I understand.
I already said what we should do when it comes to the Driver... I think what you need to do is if you want different results play on a different Simulator like Pro Tee
I was going to have 3 Wood Selected and hit with 3 Wood......

I take it most people are hitting real balls and are on real ball setting as that makes difference to swing speed. As does of ball is teed up, forward on the Mat or in the depression as I found early on. Finally turf top type also makes a difference when hitting off the mat
Then you've got lighting differences to contend with, club taping and perhaps other environmental factors.
I think that's why a fixed setting is difficult to set as may affect some more than others.
As everyone is saying it should just be as the rules are now, just emphasising that people should set all clubs to real world distances and should be calibrated on the range in still conditions
If club total distances are unknown then club should be set to (example below may need tweaking based on your views) but the driver distance % must not exceed 90% and the putter speed must be between 80% and 100%
Driver 260
3 wood 235
5 wood 225
This should mean most people will either be hitting less than 260 if their speed means max 90% distance is less than 260 or everyone is max 260 and distance may need dialling right down.
260 is an example and could be set at what you all think best
I don't like this really as will no doubt mean everyone driving 260 but at least will stop the massive hits
Other way is to just make people adjust distance % so it gives a distance of 2.25 x their swing speed
2.475= club head speed x 1.5 to get ball speed x 1.5 smash factor x 1.1 to give rollout (I find ball hardly roles out on this game)
I would hope there is a % distance setting which will give this total and have everyone set it the same. Perhaps this needs investigating across multiple people's setups to see if a fixed percentage can be found
Would mean a 100mph drive would total 247.5 yard, 105 would give 260, 110 = 272etc
Could always not include rollout if you still think drives too long which would cut distances by 10%
Once people have tested across multiple systems could then all say what distance % setting was used to acheive the above calculated distances at your own swing speed
Eg when I swing at 105 to get drive to total 260 distance set to 93%
Catman does a 95 swing and to get 235 yards his has to be set to 91
Buck drives 112, to give 277 he has to set to 88
Could then either say every just leaves it set to their individual % to acheive distances above, if you wAnted to trust them or make everyone fix to say 90%. Would then benefit say buck but slightly disadvantage me and cat
Just a thought to try and take on board everyone's thoughts

What kind of irons do you have? How much you asking ?Originally posted by MrHogan View PostBuckeye for some reason their is no appetite here for real golf. Lets just keep our clubs on 100% keep smashing 340yd drives, hell we can even boost our irons ive just read so lets up them too. I can just keep my driver wedge and putter and sell the spare clubs on ebay.

So willy you really think our tour is blessed with 100% big hitters compared to the other tours. I really for the life of me cannot understand why folks wont agree to an across the board % cut to bring us in line with the other simulators and real life for that matter.Originally posted by Willymakit View PostWhen guys start shooting 15 under every round and have 4 putts per hole and drive every green then maybe take a look at it. Until then give it a rest already. Sorry if some guys can't hit has far had others.

I would suggest you read our Us Open thread a bit and watch some of my US open videos. The Optishot putting is easy. No doubt about it. The reason why you take 40 strokes is maybe because you don't take the time to read the breaks or take the time to practice and make good stroke. Like i said before, you seem to be in a hurry.Originally posted by Willymakit View PostI take it you haven't putted on fast greens. I 3 to 5 putt So it's not that easy. If you hit it to hard it like it hits the flag and keeps on trucking on by. So please don't say it easy to putt on optishot. I'm putting roughly 40 strokes per 18 so half of my score goes to putting which IRl i do not do. Then you have to fight the wind on the green which I think exaggerates the break.

I think if everyone set 90% driver distance then for some it would be too much, some would be too little. If you can all decide on what distance an "acceptable" drive will go at each swing speed then could get a % distance number that equates to that as I suggested above.
Using the term average golfer should hit x is useless without saying what swing speed each golfer hits at. I just hate this mentality of "theres no way you can drive that far because the internet says so"
Every player hits different brands of clubs balls etc, everyone has different swing speeds, due to their different setups. Some read right, some read fast. Just set some yardages that we can all agree are fair at each swing speed, then well find what % most closely resembles that and as I say make individuals set their own setting to an individual number to reflect that distance or set a fixed number, but lets not just guess based on an average golfer

John if you want to make this a video game, please just say so. I will take it for what it is then. You are the administrator and make the calls.
I thought you were the kind of guy who was open for suggestions and wanted to improve on this. If I was mistaken just say so. It appears to me now, that you have some personal beef with me, but I am not sure why. Nearly everyone who has chimed in has stated they would like to see this be more realistic, with most even saying that they have used to have their clubs set according to their real life ball flights before "online play", so why you have singled me out is unknown.
You have falsely stated that most amateurs play from forward tees. When shown proof that the PGA actually has a campaign to get amateurs to move up you don't even acknowledge it standing firm on your position.
You have falsely stated again that if we were to dial our woods back to realistic numbers we would be forced to play from forward tees. You was shown that is not the case with pro tee guys who average 240 yards and have low guys in the 200 yard range and yet they still play 6500 to 7000 yards. Instead of even acknowledging you saw the post and understand the context you decide to single me out personally and attack.
Are you opposed to a rational civil discussion on this league or not? Do you want to use this as a sim as much as possible or as a video game?
