Thick Turf settings for Irons

Yep, moving that teeing position forward certainly seemed to fix all my problems with it under reading my speed. I dont have it quite as far forward as you, perhaps thats why i still have to boost my irons, but then I did on stock turf too.

As it stands Im happy with mine now, reads pretty much perfect 99% of the time.

Think of the 2 rows of sensors as a start and finish line. If you place the ball nearer the finish line, (the row closest to the target), then your club head will pass through the finish gate sooner, all things considered, because there is less distance to travel from impact with either the golf ball and/or the turf. Impact with the ball and/or the turf slows the clubhead's speed.

Hey John, I will.try teeing it up closer to the front sensor. Right now my tee shot which used to be one of my most reliable shots when I teed it up and hit a driver has become a gamble because I am using a 3 wood straight off the turf and If I don't hit absolutely perfect I lose about 10mph because I touched the turf or thinned it and the read was too far from the sensors. This sucks but It makes me really focus as there is no room for error and It should help my real game ( fingers crossed)

Maxx, with regards the portion of your video around the 3 minute mark where you changed from real back to foam those were the exact kind of speed under reads I was getting.


You were getting some crazy tempo readings too when hitting foam on real setting.

I think if hitting a foam ball you should stay on the foam ball setting, but I would try just moving the tee position forward, I think it will make a difference.

From your video I think it pretty much shows than when using foam ball on foam setting, if teed up its kills your speed, but if off the deck it works fine.

This is obviously because the club is going to be further above the front sensor when hitting a teed up ball on the up as oppose to hitting it downwards or flatter off the deck.

Blue is the Orignal Tee Position, teed up Driver arc
Purple is the Test Forward Tee Position, teed up Driver arc
Pink is the flatter off the deck arc if hitting from the original position off the deck

Obviously these are just estimates but shows my thinking as to why it may work and gives the results

I really would try just moving the teeing position further forward and see how it goes

I just marked mine with the bottom of a broke off tee pushed in deep, so creates a bit of an indent in the turf, and then can just put the driver tee in the same place, so I hit irons and drive all off the same spot.

I didnt have to alter any of my offsets either which was strange as i would have thought would have made clubs read more open, I think only one it really affected was my gap wedge, which is always a pain anyway for some reason,k and just needed a minor offset adjustment

As ive said previously if you have any probs with reduced clubhead speed readings, in particular driver, just try teeing up about an inch further forward from where he puts the tee in, seemed to do the trick for me. i had to adjust all my clubs settings, irons i had to reduce the boost i had to give them from stock turf, driver as not allowed to change settings due to guidelines i found just teeing it forward a little made it read better and the same readings it got with stock turf

I'll give that a try. My driver readings are terrible. I'm lucky to get 220 out of my driver.
