Trouble getting the program to show from projector to the hitting screen

Are you getting any picture on any of the options when you cycle through them? (Extend or duplicate or only monitor 2)?

I am not familiar with your projector, but I would make sure you are on the correct input for the projector. you can hook up a DVD player or another device and verify the input works and you have it set correctly.

the other part I would do to test if it's not too difficult, hook the tv back up to your laptop and see if you can get the tv to work. If you can get the Tv to work then you will be comfortable with the steps you need to do for the projector.

OK, in case there is anyone out there that is as computer illiterate as myself and they experience the same problem as I have been having, I have seen the light so to speak. First I want to thank again all the people that have replied and given their input to help me through this problem. I know it can’t be easy to help someone that doesn’t know much more that turning on and off the computer. With that said, here is what I have learned. When for some reason I lost the screen that the projector uses to show my sim on the hitting screen, I unplugged the laptop and brought it in the house so I could get input from this site on my home computer and try it out on the laptop. I just couldn’t get the second screen back. This morning I took the laptop back out to the garage to charge up the battery and decided to connect everything back up and try it again. I found out that I could not get a second screen without the projector or tv connected. When the HDMI is connected my computer would give me the option of screen1, screen2, extend, duplicate. After I got that back I was able to put everyone back the way it was before the crash. I am sure that the people that were helping me didn’t know I had disconnected everything so their suggestions was based on me having the system connected. I hope this helps anyone that finds themselves in this position with this problem. Again I just can’t thank you all enough for sticking with me and helping me through this. I have been learning a lot from this site by just lurking but posting a problem and having the response that I got was very special. Thank you

Thank you all for the information about getting my cascade windows back. Aeroburner, there wasn't a box that said project when I clicked on the icon in the lower right corner. There we several other boxes but not one that said project. Stringreye, I was able to shortcut and get the project panel up and I cycled down to extend but nothing happened. I tried it and when it was highlighted I hit enter but still nothing changed. Thank you all for trying to help me, is there anything else I can do to fix my problem?

You want to duplicate the screen, not extend it. Also, restart and wait until your computer is fired up and then try plugging your HDMI in so that the computer recognizes it. This also may seem silly but make sure the projector input is on the correct display (HDMI1 or HDMI2). Not sure how many inputs you have.

I have one last question or problem I would like help with. How do I get the sound to work when I am on the duplicate screen setting? I have sound when I am on the screen 1 setting only and lose sound when I switch to the duplicate setting. Thank you

Where are your speakers? Are they the built in speakers on the laptop? Is it the projector with audio sent over the HDMI cable? It looks like your projector might have speakers too. Maybe try turning the volume up on the projector speakers and see if its sending audio out to the projector instead of the laptop.

You may have to go to the following menu:
Click the new start button in windows 10
type "sound"
open the sound control panel it should find.
IF you see more than 1 play back device, you may need to change "the default" device to the speaker you want. I hook my desktop up to a TV and sometimes I need to make sure its set to my TV in the menu.

I have multiple devices on my desktop so here is how I change them
1. click on the speaker icon on by the clock when it opens there is a " up arrow in the upper right corner click on that and you can scroll through what you are wanting to activate"

Aeroburner, when I click on the speaker icon it shows the projector speaker and the volume on 85 but there is no arrow. I checked the projector menu and it shows that the audio is on HDMI. When I disconnect the projector and plug in the TV, the sound comes back on. Does that help?

1) You need to right click the audio icon and select playback devices. (if you just see volume you likely left clicked)
2) Look for this screen attached, then see the button called set as default (it will have the green check mark that Aeroburner is talking about).
3) After identifying which one is your speakers for your projector, highlight/click it, then hit the default button (you should see green check mark move to it).
4) Then right click and select test. It will play a tone through your speakers. If you get a tone, go to step 5. If NOT, don't bother going to step 5, you speakers are still not setup right.
5) You may have to close the optishot program and restart it to ensure its using the correct audio device (the projector), after you make this change.

Thank you Stingreye and aeroburner for your replies. I followed the instructions that Stingreye posted and got the projector highlighted as the default device. I then tried the test and nothing happened. I tried the test with both the computer and TV and both tested fine. I rechecked the projector to make sure I wasn't on mute or anything like that and everything seems to be correct. Any other suggestions? Thanks again

Just to confirm.... your TV connected with the HDMI cable to your laptop will give you the test tone?

Its has to be a projector setting is my gut feeling. Do you have any other devices like a dvd or blu ray or roku that connects via hdmi that we can try to get to work with the projector and the tv? I mainly want to isolate that its a projector setting vs computer setting. If you can duplicate it with another device then when can dig into the projector.

Some projectors have a setting that turns off the internal speakers. Sometimes its called use external audio device or something like that.

Go to the input display menu. Then select audio input. Verify its set for HDMI input.
