  • Question for the ProTee users

I have a GSA system with a sensor mat similar to ProTee's. I have had it since early December and have taken thousands of shots on it. I have had two misreads that are really weird and I am wondering if this ever has happened to you guys. Both shots were with the driver and both shots were slight fades. The game however read it as a big hook. The first time this happened, I was puzzled but played on.... a month later, it happened again. This time I stopped the game and looked at the data collected by my system. It sure looked like fade data to me. My control panel allows you to launch the previous shot, so I did....and it faded nicely. The shot data collected on that shot was fade data but the shot was a big hook. If this happened during a tournament round, the shot data would point towards a valid shot, so a rewind would look like a mulligan. Has this ever happened to any of you ProTee users?

Also, I may have a tip to help with the odd protee misread. The FB mat sometimes will have fibres fold over and trip the sensors before the club does. This will cause a good shot to look like a poor shot. I trimmed my mat with a pair of scissors. Trim just a bit on the side where the club would enter. So that when the fibers bend over, they don't cover any sensors. Since I have trimmed my mat, rewinds were only needed when I didn't notice a ball laying in the FOV and once or twice when my CP didn't change to the putter. I have since been hitting P when changing to putter and that has solved that issue of using Z and X to move clubs up and down.....if I hit them too quickly sometimes it would be one club off and that will mess up a putt.

When I first got the mat, my misreads went way up. About 1 or 2 per round. Martin at GSA said that he forgot to trim the mat.... no biggie..... works great now. Virtually zero misreads. My control panel read the correct data...... TGC just had it backwards for some reason. I really couldn't take a rewind on that one unless I was recording the round. The left to right difference between the fade and the big hook was probably 50-60 yards. Having that mat has really helped my game..... I have dropped a few strokes since my system has become more accurate. I am finally a scratch golfer.....in TGC that is.... and really looking forward to spring time golf.

That is bizarre, especially with the right numbers but not applying them to your shot. I haven't had that happen . I will look at my mat when I get home from work. I have never thought about that but I could see where it could cause misreads. Your ball flight is so consistent from your videos I wouldn't think anybody would have an issue on a rewind if that happens. I know I wouldn't. Integrity is a big part of the tour and you certainly display that.

Thanks, We want to make sure that nobody feels the need to defend any rewind. Rewinds are there for those who need them. You would hate to lose by 1 stroke because of a misread. My system has been so good that I stopped recording every round..... then recently while the game was paused, I was picking up balls and putting them back to my mat and it registered 3 or 4 shots ..... ( in shot data only) at the beginning of the next round. The data didn't look like shots but the data was recorded.... so I have to remember to back out of the game before picking up balls.
I have had a few practice rounds while being sore from hockey..... a few of the big draws.... I was trying to hit straight. When fatigued I can really hook the ball sometimes. I try to play my tournament rounds after a day of rest..... My scores have dropped since I started that.

As for that misread... that was weird because when I resent the data, it launched correctly. Imagine my surprise when I see the shot go 50 yards to the right of where I expect it to go.... with my driver yet.... which has been behaving for more than a year now. I am ecstatic with how it behaves IRL.... I have very little fear of cutting corners, going over trees or down narrow fairways. I love my driver.

ProTee sensors does not have this issue. This potential problem has been solved many years ago.

which problem? The folding over of the fibers when taking a divot, or 1 shot in a couple of 1000's that shows backwards spin.? Is GSA responsible for sending data to TGC? I would think so..... it is probably their issue. It happens so rare that it is hardly worth bothering anyone.... Good luck trying to duplicate the issue.
Working...
