Could not be happier with sim

I just wanted to update everyone because I'm so excited, I have to tell someone and I know you guys will understand.

I have not played real golf or been to real driving range in 5 months, but have been working on the Sim most days. I am going to California to play Pelican Hill for a client charity event, so, I went to range today just to make sure everything is ok.

All I can say is Wow. Hitting on the sim has really, really made an improvement in my ball striking and distance. I want to stress 2 things:

1)Hitting hundreds and hundreds of shots off the mat has improved my swing in that I am taking a much shallower divot and I am actually compressing the ball correctly. Any of you guys who have watch the pros play live probably noticed the unique "click" sound they make when striking the ball pure as opposed to the "thud" sound of hitting the ground first or at the same time that most amateurs make. Well guys, I'm making the "click" sound and hitting the ball pure on most of my shots...not all, but most. My distance and ball flight are so much better. My launch angles are lower and I'm hitting more of a "driving" shot than a pop up. I bought a small bucket and was hitting so well, that I did not finish the bucket. Unreal experience, shot after shot were well struck and right where I was aiming.

2)My protee setup could not be any more accurate. My distances and ball flight were spot on to the feedback I was getting on the Sim. I am super happy with the accuracy of not only the distances but the degree of right and left I'm seeing on mishits. It took a lot of work and a lot of advice that I got from this forum, but I am happy to report that I am getting the accurate data and visual feedback from the system that I expect. I believe my system is dead on. For the record, I have my clubs set at 98% (2% boost) from the defaults and my yardages are within 3-7 yards (carry) on my wedge, 7 iron, and 4 iron. My driver I believe is the same, but had a hard time getting yardages on the range for the driver.

Bottom line, I think the sim has helped my game especially in ball striking and working the ball left or right and it definitely keeps me in "golf ready" condition. I'm sure my short game may be rusty but I'm sooo happy with everything else.

I agree with you 100%. My protee system is awesome. I am dialed in with my distances as well. I do not boost anything. I love having a simulator and protee is great.

I do not have a protee, but a skytrak and the year and 2 months I have been using the SIM. My score average only has gone 2 srokes...91 to 89 but number of pars is up, birdies are up - average 1/2 birdie every round and use to only get one once or twice a year. I still have two or three bad holes but around the corner I see another 3 strokes dropping. My member-guest is the weekend - will see what happens.

We are all very lucky to live in a time this stuff is available for a reasonable price and I only seeing it getting better.

Agree on ProTee, compare to gc2+hmt (would take both to compare since club data) or quad, it is amazing and have enough money left to pay for a membership at a good club for 2-5 years.

Thanks for sharing. I am also loving being able to have a quality golf hit without leaving the house. And like you I want to shout out out to people but pretty afraid they'll just look at me strange.

hard to say if I'll see such positive results as you, but easy to say it would be no result at all without the sim, I just don't have time to golf usually

I live in the UK and familiar with skytrak, the foresight monitors, flightscope, trackman and the ES variations but have never came across protee- how does it work and what are the benefits over the others? How much does a protee system cost?

I am in the process of planning a sim in my tight garage- the most economical is a skytrak system. I am planning on getting windows version, with TGC, Gaming laptop, mat, impact screen, projector, netting and fixtures. I could do all of that for about £5400 (about $7k) althought cheaper if I just went with IOS version, Ipad and WGT but from what i've read on here is not the best for a sim.

What software do you use for protee? Is it a doppler or camera based system? Does it do clubhead data or just ball?

I believe protee is camera based. The more cameras you purchase the more data it will capture. I do believe it takes some effort in setting it up compared to skytrak. However, I think it will work better if you have left and right handed golfers.

Protee is camera and sensor based. Yes, it has club data and it's very accurate and helpful. You can buy new systems in the 3 k range. They are actually based in Europe and I'm sure they have places you can demo it. Also, people are selling used systems on here all the time. A little extra work for initial setup but once that's done, no more trouble needed. And yes, only good option for righty lefty.

Good for you Gene. Glad to hear it's going good for you. I see your on discord as well, and look forward to playing with you some sim golf. I too have TGC, but i have a gc2. Right now my sim is down for the summer due to the excessive heat in Las Vegas, but in the fall I'll be ready to play again. When I play and practice I see my scores come down as well. Nice to have understanding wives that appreciate our passion for the game. A lot of my friends are jealous. Next spring I'm planning to a.c. my garage with a 2 ton 24000 btu split a.c. unit so I can play year around. This way my game will always be in shape plus my son and I can play year around as well. Hey Tony, you definitely have to get the AC unit. You and I are similar in that the best time to use the sims are in the summer. Here in Baton Rouge, it is impossible to play in the summer with 100 degree heat and 100% humidity, so I actually play more sim golf in the summer months and play mostly outdoor in Nov - March timeframe

Any remember, AC unit is like a boat......bigger is always better!!!!!!!
