  • Is Protee The Right Choice?

I am interested in a home simulator and am leaning toward Protee. I have read nearly every post on this site and like most of what I see. I have a couple of comments/concerns and would appreciate any help you could provide!

    1. There does not seem to be very much information online on setting up the system or tweaking settings as needed. I have seen that there is a CD with instructions that comes with the system. Are the instructions more thorough than what I am seeing online?
    2. Is a good setup attainable by a home user? I don't mind spending some time setting the system up if there is some general direction to obtain the desired result, but I don't necessarily want to tinker with and tweak the system in an endless quest for usable results.
    3. Are Par2Pro and Golfsimulatorstore the only two resellers of this system? I cannot seem to find it for sale anywhere else. Can anyone tell me where you purchased from and how the experience was?

Thanks for the help...I'm sure I will request your assistance again once I get started!

Actually, there is probably too much information on setting up a protee system.....I think a lot of the info is outdated.

There are really 2 schools of thought on setting up ProTee. I think if you follow the setup instructions on their website, Protee will tell you that little changing of settings should be needed.

Then you have the tinkerers (I am one) who are always searching for perfection. Yes, I have gotten myself in trouble tinkering with lights, cameras, etc and sometimes found myself back at default settings having wasted a lot of my time...but, I like tinkering.

Honestly, setting up a system is not that complicated. It's all about controlling the light in your environment. You have to create a nice crisp shadow of the club as you hit the ball and you have to have a nice clear picture of the ball as it takes off.

One thing is for sure, you will get great customer service from Protee........

If they added spin measurements I don't think you'd need to "tinker". It's a good system but not as accurate as others that measure ball data. It would be perfect if they verified club data via high speed camara and measured ball data. At its price point perfectly viable for the regular Joe looking to play multi dexterity sim golf. It is fairly accurate.

May sound biased but as a golf club professional and running a successful Srixon/Cleveland fitting centre The ProTee was surprisingly accurate to be honest. In fact I was so impressed I ended up in partnership distributing in the Uk and Europe.
With every system out there individuals will say if something just did this or that etc and you see it in every system forum.
The system is tested on a regular basis and has quite a few new improvements recently with new interfaces to improve on some things.
What the system offers for the cost and its accuracy is very very good and at times we have had users of other more expensive sims and LM's trade in to these for various reasons.

The system is solid and often over complicated but ProTee have great support and pride themselves on that as do we in the UK/Europe.
You are never alone to set one of these up all you have to do is ask?
Many choose not to do this and get into knots at times but the support and advice is here when anyone needs it.
With many software options and possibly others coming it is a really great system that has something for everyone.

Set up correctly it is a serious bit of kit to be honest.
I have personally tested many things and at times even the highest regarded of sims has thrown out some odd stuff.
Yes the ball spin is calculated but it is done very well when compared to other ball spin measurements, the club head data is spot on when everything is set up as advised and even if it is not, the system can be tweaked to suit an iffy positioned sensor mat if need be.
No marked balls required or club face stickers make it easy to throw a ball down and just hit.
There could be debate to say systems that measure ball spin alone do not give accurate head data but some are very close.

Club head data is important when looking to improve swing elements and helps you iron out swing faults, I personally find spin on its own doe not do this for me but everyone is different

There are so many ways of how sim hardware detect certain things and I am sure there will always be ways to be critical of all of them in some way.
For the price point, accuracy and service this is one of the best for sure or so I found when I was just a pro with a golf sim. I always had first class support if I ever needed it which I rarely did and when I did it was down to me not the system.
